Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
I was looking at the 2012 mock draft... and the draft class is incredibly deep. Anyone of the top 30 could be a lottery pick this year. There are lots of potential stars at the forward spot: barnes, Davis, sullinger, perry, q. Miller, mcadoo, gilchrist, Henson, and t. Jones. I say we focus on pg, sg and C in this draft and just tank next season for lottery. Trade up for Kanter or just draft Burks at 9th. We could really find a franchise player in 2012.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
I honestly would try to avoid drafting a point guard. I think DJ is in the top 10 point guards in the league. He just needs to get some better players around him is all. I think other than that every position is in play to be drafted. Although I do think Hendo is most likely the shooting guard of the future. His injury makes you think about drafting a Burks or Klay Thompson. I think we are forgetting that Jackson can play shooting guard as well. I think we would be better off drafting a Small Forward and starting Jack at the two until Hendo gets back and let our drafted SF start alongside of Jack. Then when Hendo gets back you have a decision to make who starts, but hopefully we can trade Jack soon after and get a solid wing and a draft pick for him.
I think we have to realize that Jack and Boris will not be with the team very long and almost consider their spots as holes. I think we should just throw mad money at a free agent Center as well.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
I think we don't need to trade up to get Derrick Williams of all players (no position need, quite the opposite). if we do we should do something like geting No.3, Utah getting No. 2 and Wolves getting No.9,12 and 19. Not sure what would be motivation sttrong enough for Utah to do that, they probably pplan to add someone to their backckourt. Well things would change if Kyrie Irving would become second overall pick.
I guess keep options open and decide according how the draft goes is only way to go this year. in this draft you should trade fo specfic palyer rather than a pick more than in other years.

This draft was looking pretty deep too until half of the top ten decided to go back to school.
Who knows how the 2012 class will look by the time the drat actually rolls around.

i only mentioned pg with the first pick since only 3 are projected that early, irving, walker and knight. i think if any of those 3 were available at #9 we should take them, regardless of how we feel about DJ. the value would be too good to pass up with our pick.
plus, i think you and i will have to disagree on DJ being a top 10 pg. i just dont think he has the size or defense to be considered top 10. i think he is ideally suited to be a change of pace pg like barea or to share duties with a bigger pg. i dont really see dj as a 35+ min pg on a playoff level team. i mean, can you see dj trying to cover kidd, westbrook or rose in the playoffs? anyway, thats for another thread i think.

I never really thought this draft was that deep, even while assuming all the top players were still in.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
My favorite guys at our picks
9th- Tristan Thompson, Donatas Motiejunas, Alec Burks, Biyombo, Valunciunas, and Leonard.
19th- Jordan Hamilton, Klay Thompson, Jordan Williams, Tyler Honeycutt, Reggie Jackson, and Chris Singleton.
I think our best option is to go big with our first pick and then grab best wing with our second pick.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
just how much would you guys be willing to give up in order to get the #2 pick? stop me when its too much
#9 + #19
#9 + #19 + #39
#9 + #19 + 2013 1st (owed by Portland)
#9 + dj
#9 + hendo
these are our only really attractive trading chips right now. no lottery team is going to be interested in jax and i dont think any team would be interested in tryus' contract until he proves something.

Um, I would certainly take Rondo over many on that list, along with Ty Lawson. I'd also take Felton over DJ. I would add Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker both over DJ and Conley as well even though they haven't played a minute of NBA basketball.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
I hear NJ is looking to move up in the lottery. They seem to be a team desperate to make moves (like we have been in the past). What if we dealt our #9 this year for a pick next year either unprotected or top 3 protected?

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
lol DJ isn't close to the top 10 in PG's I'll take over the next two years. Not including the old guys (Nash, Billups, Kidd, Parker, etc.) here's how the top 15 look.
1. Deron Williams
2. Chris Paul
3. Derrick Rose
4. Russell Westbrook
5. Stephen Curry
6. Rajon Rondo
7. Jrue Holiday
8. John Wall
9. Brandon Jennings
10. Tyreke Evans
11. Ray Felton
12. Ty Lawson
13. Darren Collison
14. Mike Conley
15. Jeff Teague
Then you have to consider rookies from the next two years who could all make a splash (Irving, Kemba, Knight, Marshall, Teague, Kabongo, etc.)

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
I'm on the keep the 9th and 19th pick boat.
I'd be open to trading our 19th and 39th to move up 2-3 spots to grab a player like Reggie, if his stock improves.
1. Irving
2. Williams
3. Kawhi
4. Kanter
5. Knight
6. Vesely
7. Walker
8. Markieff or Marcus, Faried
9. Biyombo
19. Reggie Jackson
39. BPA

If we dont take Alec Burks with our #9, then I would love to grab Marshon Brooks with #19. Really want one of the 2 SG's to have behind Jax for when Jax is gone. And goodness knows we need scoring help.

wow Brandon Jennings is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE, Tyreke Evans is a SG, and led his team to one of the worst records in the NBA. Aggressive DJ is at the same level of Stephen Curry IMO and timid DJ is a notch lower, my top 10 PGS are
1)CP3
2)Rose
3)Deron
4)Rondo
5)Westbrook
6)Steve Nash
7)Stephen Curry
8)Aggressive DJ
9)Wall
10)Holiday

Lol @ comparing Augustin to Curry.

Yeah Jennings is TURRIBLE. He may or may not bounce back soon, but besides his rookie streak where he was the hottest rookie for a couple months, he's been shooting like HORSE. ASS.
Give DJ a full training camp under Silas, and we'll be mentioning DJ, being worthy of a top 10 PG in this league.

Sorry, but I just highly disagree with Augustin becoming a top 10 pg within the next 5 years, let alone next 2.

Will Kemba get any consideration from Charlotte you think?

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
No way does Charlotte draft a PG in my opinion unless something catastrophic happens to Irving. If we stand still id be content with Burks at 9 and Singleton at 19. Then using Diaws expiring contract to either get a 2012 first rounder and a filler since we our 2012 draft pick is Chicagos (lottery protected thank God). Then throw huge money at Paul and pray.
