With the 5th pick we need a defensive minded player. Its been our problem for many seasons so what ever defensive players are out there that is who bc should be looking at. All this being said I'd trade down and get leonard or just use our pick on him.

Do we go for a pg/sg this year or wait for Kabongo next year? Draft Kanter or wait for Perry Jones?

If we're drafting a pg this year, i'd rather look at a player like Michael Gilchrest next year.

Gilchrist :droop: versatility and lock-down defense drools me!

Or Harrison Barnes with his clutch shooting ...but damn I like Gilchrist more 8-)

Agreed. Gilchrist is said to play Scottie Pippen like D. That's unreal.

He's also supposed to be the best rebounder since Sullinger.

Can you imagine Gilchrist and DeRozan on the wings? They perfectly compliment each other. One plays stellar defense, the other plays great offense.

As long as one of them (preferably both) could develop a decent three-point shot, our wing positions would be filled for years to come.

there's tons of defensive minded players next year at the 3 spot, wait till next yr to do that. U don't trade down again to get a even more crappy player lol

don't forget gilchrist is a fabulous passer. I wish his defense is as good as pippen but he has iggy's defensive potential and if he does. He can help us guard the best player of another team every night. But you're right, at this point Demar has to develop that 3 pointer coz i can't count on gilchrist's poor shooting ability to do so.

Barring any trades, I think the draft will go like this:

1.) Cleveland - kyrie Irving
2.) Minnesota - enes kanter
3.) Utah - Derrick Williams
4.) Cleveland - kawhi Leonard
5.) Toronto - Brandon knight
6.) Washington - Jan vesely
7.) Sacramento - kemba walker
8.) Detroit - bismack biyombo
9.) Charlotte - Tristan Thompson
10.) Milwaukee - Alec burks
11.) Golden State - Jonas valanciunas
12.) Utah - jimmer fredette
13.) Phoenix - Marcus Morris
14.) Houston - donatas motiejunas

Does anyone think it is crazy to acquire the second overall pick and use it to acquire Biyombo? If it doesn't cost us our 5th overall then we'd come off with two above average defenders (assuming Knight is still on the board).

Knight/Bayless
DeMar/Leandro
Johnson/ (to be determined in 2012 draft- Possibly Michael Gilchrist)
Johnson/ Ed Davis
Biyombo / (to be determined in free agency- Possibly Marc Gasol or DeAndre Jordan or even Kaman)

Not sure what kind of assets we would be sending out to get the pick, I doubt they want anything from us but DeRozan. But if we managed to snag that pick and attain a center in free agency, we would really start looking like a strong defensive team.

I desperately want us to buy a pick for Kenneth Faried. This guy just screams effort. I could care less if we already have Amir and Ed. At this point it's about the accumulation of assets. Whoever drafts Faried will be tickled pink.

Why acquire the 2nd overall pick to use on him ? Rather take someone else at 2nd pick... ie Irving or Williams, and use our pick on Biyombo.

Well with the way Kanter had been projected to go fourth, I assumed if Biyombo is on the board the cavs will really give him a look, especially now that he's been asking about Washington

I'm sorry but QMiller trumps every other SF in this draft!

You're looking at the closest thing to Kevin Durant...

I love Gilchrist commitment to D but he doesn't have Pippen's length or height....and you don't pass up on an animal like Miller who looks like a legitmate franchise talent.

It's nice to see a guy doing the same 2 or 3 moves in his entire highlight reel for 4 and a half minutes and all, but defense over offense any day + quiet confidence over outward cockiness any day. Great offense can beat great defense, but defense never goes anywhere. Gilchrist over Miller for me any day.

How about BC just makes it easy on all of us and acquires 3 or 4 first rounders for 2012? Sounds good to me! :D

Hey I've always been a fan of Gilchrist so I won't cry if made that choice, it's all love BUT despite Miller's brashness you gotta admit he looks very similar to Durant and from all things I've seen and read on him a lot of analysts believe he will end up close to that level and I'm sorry I'm not passing on that.

I'll also say that although he comes off a bit cocky, I like that appears to have the confidence to be a leader. Again I love Gilchrist too but I just don't think his ceiling is as high and that he would take our team the true next level even at his best.

I prefer Bradley Beal myself.

But, that's the 2012 draft, which hopefully isn't derailed by a new age/college requirement...but I digress.

All you guys hate Miller's attitude, because you've been too use to getting swagged on by these kind of players as Raptors fans, and he reminds you off all the butthurt.

I've been long awaiting for a player with some cockiness and the talent to back it up to play for the Raptors.

Barring a poor recovery from his injury, Quincy Miller is our man.

Beal to me is like Eric Gordon or someone on that level.

I'd easily take Miller, Gilchrist and McAdoo over him....but to Beal's credit I would have a hard time picking between him and Rivers (who I think is a bit overrated as Curry's twin but that's a different topic).

As for this year, its all BPA...I just hope BC doesn't make any shortsighted trades or signings to "make the playoffs" this year because it's all about rebuilding.

Yessssssir!

Get on the bandwagon my man....Miller is THE player who can turn this franchise around.

I'm not mad at fellow Raptor fans for wanting to create this tough, defensive squad but to get to the next level....teams need stars (other then the Pistons but this ain't them). QMill is just oozing star potential.

I think that Leonard is my new Terrence Jones, the guy who looks most like a 2-way NBA starter outside of the top 2-3. I take him at #5 and let other teams do the praying.

Return to Toronto Raptors
