Carlos Zambrano?

I know the Mets have Gomez & Milledge so would you include Martinez in a deal to get Carlos Zambrano?

Zambrano would solidify your rotation and you guys would be even bigger contenders. Zambrano is still young, but you guys would have team to sign him to a long term deal.

He's either going to get resigned by the Cubs or traded and then resigned by that team.

So, I wouldn't be too sure about that.

Anyways, I understand about not wanting to trade him for Zambrano. I just didn't think it was too ridiculous of an offer.

NO WAY! I'd trade Milledge (not C. Gomez) w/ Heilman and/or Pelrey for the following...

1. J. Santana
2. C. Zambrano
3. D. Willis
2008-09 Championship Depth Chart
1) Ben Gordon/ Aaron Brooks/ Rafer Alston
2)Tracy McGrady/ B. Barry/ V. Wafer
3) Shane Battier/ R. Artest/ C. Hayes
4) Luis Scola/C. Landry/Joey Dorsey
5) Yao/ D. Mutumbo/Sean Williams

I'd rather have Johan Santana than Zambrano. Santana's personality seems like a much better fit in our clubhouse plus he's a lefty and better than Zambrano. So if I have to pay a pitcher 130-150 million which is probably what it will cost to sign someone like that, I want the best.

I'm sure that was before Barry Zito signed his contract, otherwise at 5 for 80, the Cubs would have happily signed him to that. Either that, or Cubs management doesn't think he's a good teammate. Why else would they not sign him?

The Cubs & Zambrano had a deal in place early in the year for 5yr/80m.

But the Cubs are getting new ownership and that's why the deal is not done.
