Tampa with the lead. What a game.

As much as it would be great to see Boston in the Finals, Tampa Bay vs. either of the Western teams would be a helluva fun series to watch.

And you can start the discussion about whether Smith should start in Game 5.

^^ Yep. We've chased Roloson twice, and smith has come in and done great both times.

They've gotta go with Smith in game 5, I don't see how they can go back to Roloson now. I know he carried them to this point but he's not carrying them now.

I'm sorry, but three 5 on 3 goals in less than two minutes is **** ridiculous.

Dont wanna start a thread on it but Brian Rafalski is going to retire Wednesday. It really came out of nowhere and he is leaving 6 million on the table.

Sucks to lose a really solid player, but we are looking at major cap-space now to go find a defensemen. We need to get mean and big on the back end, so I'm hoping we go that route. And this gives Kindl a chance to play full time.

Watch Detroit somehow manage to land Shea Weber with the cleared up cap space if Lidstrom takes a huge cut for one more year. With their luck, and Nashville having a hard time getting him a deal with Rinne/Suter coming up, I can definitely see it happening.

I have a feeling this is the first of a few dominoes to fall in Detroit.

We will certainly be making a run at him. I don't actually think we will get him, but man that would be great

meaning retirements and the like? Yeah I'm betting Modano is done, Osgood will move on, Draper is probably done, one of Eaves/Miller is probably going to want more minutes elsewhere (hopefully we keep Eaves), and hopefully we let Salei and Ericsson walk.

These are good things though. We need to get younger. We have capspace to spend. I'm actually a little excited

Edit: Apparently Rafalski played the playoffs missing an ACL in one knee. :o

Yeah, retirements. Any idea about what Lidstrom might do?

Its very 50-50 to me. Luckily he has said he will decide before July 1st and the start of free agency, which is nice either way. I was quite certain that he was done after this season before the playoffs started, but now I'm less sure.

I remember Nick almost left a few years back to be with his family and I have little doubt that the same desire to spend time with his family is still there, maybe moreso. That is the major factor He has his money, he has his cups, the Norris practically lives with him, and the #5 will be going to the rafters and hall just about the second he does retire....but I feel that, especially with Rafalski retiring, Kenny Holland may be able to convince him to give it one more go. Especially with the disappointment of the Sharks series.

What I'm trying to say is, I have no ******* clue what he will do. But, if you ask me to bet $50 right now, I'm going with he is coming back. He's just too damn good still to leave

No clue what Lidstrom does. He can be a top-5 defenseman for another year, but it depends what he wants to do.

Weber OR Suter would be a huge coup for Detroit, and clearly are targets. I would keep Ericsson if Lidstrom retires. Either way, Rafalski opens up a huge spot on the blueline and a huge amount of money in their cap room.

I expect Draper, Osgood and Modano to retire. I would be OK with Miller leaving since Helms and Abdelkader are much much better than him. I dont mind Eaves but if he is gone too, he is quite easily replaceable as a third liner.

Weber is not a target, he has said numerous times in public that he wants to stay in Nashville and they will get a deal done. I would be shocked if they let the core of Weber, Suter or Rinne go.

Unfortunately I have heard nothing but the same. It's fun to dream though

Nashville has absolutely no reason to let either of those guys go.

Except money. Numerous websites have reported that they can only afford to keep 2 of Weber/Suter/Rinne. This isn't a team with ownership that allows them to spend up to the top of the cap.

I never said either defenseman would be easy to get, or even available at this moment. But they have to be targets that you try to obtain.
