Rose

Noah

Rose would be their main scorer, while Morris would get the other guys going..........a 6'5'' pure point with Rose would be scary :o

also, as far as Vucevic's blocking ability, he has gone against tougher competition than some other smaller school guys.

looking at his play-by-play accounts, he had blocks against future nba'ers derrick williams, klay thompson, and twice against markieff morris:

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/playbypla ... =303522305
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/playbypla ... =310700012
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/playbypla ... =303650030

(just control+f 'vucevic block' and look at who missed their shot at the same time as his blocks)

I hope we take him to pair with STAT & Melo.............he will become a better shooter under Mike.

He can pass, defend and get to the basket whenever he wants.

1.4 blocks in 35 minutes is pretty terrible for a 6'11" or 7 footer whos the biggest player in this draft and one of the biggest dudes in college. Even guys like Channing Frye, Kurt Thomas, Shelden Williams, etc did better.

Maybe it means nothing. But for me it raises some red flags too about him being soft. I think his shot blocking will be non-existent in the NBA. A lot of questions about his strength, toughness, athletiscm, and willingness to mix it up down low.

But he is a good rebounder with skills. So maybe he could develop into am Okur or even Brad Miller minus the passing type at best. I think he's a little risky though and unlikely to reach near that level.

Blocking guys like Derrick Williams and Markieff Morris, future NBA PFs is no small feat. Faried never played anywhere near to close the competition Vucevic did- his 2.3 blocks come with a bigger asterisk imo.

What future NBA big men did Faried play against? Terrence Jennings blocked Faried 4 times:
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/playbypla ... =310760097
That's what happens when you're a 6'7 PF.

And as you can see from the draftexpress video, Sullinger uses him time and again in the post.

Thats the thing with Faried. Nobody knows how good of a defender he is because Morehead played zone exclusively with Faried at center. Neither will happen in the pros much. From what Ive seen of Faried hes not some great defender that people want to paint him as. Neither in the post, on the perimeter, or as a shot blocker. Hes athletic, plays with hella energy, and can all out board but thats about all Ive gathered so far. Is he willing to push guys around? Play physical? Be a goon type? I just think some people dont really know what Faried is all about. Some think hes this defensive/rebounding athletic beast of a man but the defense and toughness areas are still big question marks. Ive only seen a couple of his games but Im not sold on him yet.

also I don't see how 1.4 blocks can be called "terrible"- Andrew Bogut only averaged 1.6 blocks in over 30 minutes at the University of Utah, and was the NBA league leader in blocks this year.

Vucevic took 2.5 threes per game this year despite being a 7 footer?

I don't think I need to even say it.

that he's skilled and d'antoni just got a boner? that really shouldn't matter if he still rebounds, defends the post and can play in the low post if needed.

anyway, I want to see what his athletic results were, just to make sure he's not a stiff, since his athleticism is his biggest question mark.

Faried won't be a shot blocker either. He def has his red flags like everyone else such as the small school, offense and size. And he has work to do to become a good defender. But rebounding is a huge part of defense. We gave up a lot of offensive boards and 2nd chance points so thats where he would be fitting in.

Overall, I think his game will translate due to how hard he plays and the energy he brings. Even at the combines it looks like he's the hardest working big man there. He's knocking people over. With a 7' wingspan and 9' standing reach I think he can work past the size. I'm picturing someone like Jerome Williams. Or the same role that Nick Collison (9' standing reach too) plays off the bench who's really having a great playoffs. Faried is the same exact size as Collison when they put there hands up. Amare has a 9' 1/2" standing reach.

We can use someone like that if they can help us rebound off the bench. Guys like aren't that easy to get either. Reggie Evans, Foster, Przbilla....they make $5-$7mil a year. Its a costly role.

As for the other games:
Sullinger only had 8 points while Faried had 15pts, 12 boards, 5 steals and 2 blocks against Ohio State. A lot of those steals were when he was defending the post. If anything that game is a plus for Faried. And against Louisville they still won while Faried had 17 boards. He had a terrible offensive game, but nobody's drafting him for his offense. Against good teams Faried has showed he's able to beast on the boards.

As for Vucevic, if he was a good shot blocker he'd simply block more shots. Even Nate Robinson blocked Yao so one or two examples of blocking someone doesnt really mean too much. I just don't think you'll get shot blocking from him. I think we'll get a big body who can shoot and rebound with some skills. But there's been a lot of Euro players with that skill set who have not succeeded because they were too soft. That's just a major red flag for me. Its something that's really tough to judge from here. Either way, I'm not sure he's going to bring a lot of toughness.

did you watch the video though? sullinger spins around him like he's stuck in cement. sullinger only played 25 minutes and had limited stats because it was such a blowout. and most of those steals were off of guards like diebler, lighty, and craft. I don't doubt that he'll get hustle stats like steals and maybe blocks just from being energetic a la balkman. so he probably doesn't have the height or weight to defend the post- one thing that will probably translate though is his rebounding but that's the only thing known.

As for Vucevic, I picked those games specifically since he was playing against future nba big men. it's not like those are the only blocks he ever had. I'm just trying to understand how 1.4 blocks per game is in any universe bad. at worse, it's average. I won't address the toughness concerns because who knows. At least he rebounds.

man you guys are sleeping on Nikola Vucevic...this kid is almost 7 feet tall he is considered the only legit center in this draft...He fits our system, he can rebound he has a midrange and he would fill a huge need for us....he is moving up draft boards now cause of his good workouts which suck...

I like farried but at 6'7 we need to get a guy where we can move Amare back to PF and Farried cant play center..
I know its 2k11 but I drafted Vucevic/Farried/Selby and Justin Thompson and they all fill needs we have and I gave up fields/walker/balkman/TD and future picks...Out of those 4 if we got 2 or 3 out of them I would be thrilled

I have been mentioning vucevic for a while and have read a bunch of articles saying that USC didn't use him like a center but he has the size and weight to be an NBA C he just needs to add more strength....I think which I have thought all along is we need a big man coach and if turiaf is still here I think he can help as well but if we somehow deal him for a pick i would be more happy so....

He's who I would take
Why do you prefer him over reggie jackson?
ive literally never heard or seen morris play...from what I see of jackson I dunno if he is quick enough to run mike's system...im gouing for Vucevic all the way the trading back in to get selby and justin harper and if available mid 2nd round a keith benson for insurance and more size not to mention he has a sweet mid range
