Biggest issue is I do not see Williams as a 3. He played most of his game with his back to the basket at Zona. He is a great talent, but not with the first pick. I would think about trading up to #2 but I have a feeling Min will get some great offers by draft day

ANyway this can be finagled...

Depending what the cap is in 2011... I know you can't add players to a trade exception to receive a single player but can you add cap space? I would be inclined to send trade exception and the early 2nd(32nd) to Washington for Rashard Lewis and the 6th pick.

If a trade like that can't happen, depending on the cap... can you send Jamison for Rashard Lewis then use the exception to bring Jamison back(highly doubtful)... but I think trying to relieve Washington of Lewis would be the key.

If you can get the 6th pick, then you trade the 4th and 6th pick for 2nd and 20th. Or take the risk and go to Utah for the 3rd and 12th. You get both Irving and Williams. I would also try and get Nick Young from Washington for the 2... Wall and Jordan Crawford looks like the backcourt of the future so Young will eventually be the odd man out.

I like Hickson and Williams playing the 3 and 4 and when they go small 4 and 5.

LOL @ the OP implying the Jazz take Jimmer 3rd.

As a Jazz and Jimmer fan, there's plenty of people I"d rather see go before Jimmer.

I'm hoping Williams falls to 3 and excels at SF (I love Gordon Heyward at SG)
And then they draft BPA at 12 which could include Burks. I may take any of the top rated Euros at 12 if they fall too.

Or the Jazz could always trade out. This draft is so hard to predict.

I think you guys should get Williams with the #1 pick. That guy can def play the 3 at the NBA level but he is also big enough to play some 4 as well. With the 4th pick, I would go with best available big man whether that be Kanter or Valancunias.

I know everyone is saying Irving is the best player and that Brandon Knight would probably be the 2nd best PG but you guys have so many guards on your roster already. I think Sessions and B. Davis are pretty solid. You guys also have that TPE so if you guys could trade for a player to sure up that roster as well.
Lets assume you get Valuncunias with the 4th pick b/c the Jazz decide to grab Kanter.

Potential lineup:
Sessions/B. Davis
Gee/Booby Gibson/Harris
D. Williams/Eyenga/Graham
Hickson/Jamison/Samuels
Varejao/Valuncunias/Erden

That lineup would be average in the East next season but def would be a playoff team in 3 years if you guys kept all the young pieces together.

I really do not think it would be wise to pass on Irving. I think Williams will be a very good player, but I think Irving will be more valuable to a rebuilding team.
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Derrick Williams agent might give the CAVs a little more to think about in picking him. Rob Pelinka is also the agent of Carlos Boozer and was at the time that he suckerd an old blind man (Gordon Gund) to get out of his contract in Cleveland.

Derrick Williams Picks Rob Pelinka Of Landmark Sports Agency

Other players currently represented by Pelinka at Landmark Sports Agency include Kobe Bryant, Derek Fisher, Andre Iguodala, and Carlos Boozer.

Boozer might be a scumbag but Gund and Paxson are still idiots for falling for that.

Cavs trade #4 & Varejao, part of tpe

T-wolves trade #2, Johnny Flynn, Martell Webster, Darko, Pekovic

Trade puts Minny close to having a max contract available in FA, and if they are going to take Kanter over Williams anyways they may as well move down to #4. Cavs get a bunch of young players and Derrick Williams.

I have to disagree with Ming Kong. The Jazz are actually pretty thin at C. Big Al is a PF playing C, and Memo is unlikely to contribute when(if) he returns. Ante Tomic recently signed an extension with Real Madrid and seems less likely, by the day, to ever join the Jazz. That leaves Favors as our only C.

Unless someone does something crazy from now 'til draft night, I don't see the Jazz taking Knight at #3. It will be one of Williams/Irving/Kanter. There has been a lot of talk about how much the Jazz like Knight, which pretty much means they aren't drafting him. Rarely is there ever the slightest bit of truth to rumbles out of the Jazz FO.

As a wolves fan I would not be against AV plus #4 for #2 plus Darko and Pekovic. I'm not happy with both our euro centers and would like them unloadded from our roster. I'm high on AV and not too high on Williams. And it looks like Kahn is not fan of his either, hence all the trade the pick rumors.
