Wow I dont know how I missed all this Reed talk. Yea him not being at any combine could be a sign. You'd think he'd be there to raise his stock, its not like he's a lock to get drafted even in the second round is he?

Maybe teh similarity to the name Willis Reed will be a good luck charm for us?

Voted for Jimmer again. I have Jimmer as 1a and Klay as 1b. I'll keep saying it, at 17, both are good picks because they are shooters and have a high BBIQ. Klay as more a 2 and Jimmer a combo, watch out for the pick and roll.

Vucevic and Tyler should be picked up with additional firsts/early seconds.

There's a good video of Wille Reed over at Hoopsworld of him working out and preparing for the draft. I talked about him in the old draft thread. If his measurements are true, he says he is 6-10, 7'3 wingspan and has a 38in vertical, he would be a nice pickup in the 2nd round or picked him as a free agent. Offensively he is very raw, but he seems like one of those hard working guys that loves to bang down low, rebound, and block shots. Also if you watch the Greg Smith workout video, he mentions that he is real impressed by Reed's explosiveness.

Why do people think Faried would help us right away? He's a project. He never looked good playing someone straight up in college and didn't look good during the draft combine drills.

Why wasn't Chris Singleton in this poll?

I voted for Klay Thompson. He's the bpa of that group imho.

In the second round this is the kind of guy that I dont mind taking a risk on. We gotta get a pick and snag someone like him. He has the potential to have a Mozgov like impact on the team. With Amare and Melo out there we just need players that can produce when the defensive attention isnt on them, provided someone gets them the ball when they can do something with it. Pick your posion. Thats why I kept talking about this guy Ater Majok. The kid is 6'11 with a 7'7 wing span and is fairly athletic. Thats someone who may just work in our system playing off of the players we already have in place (Amare and Melo). I like these kind of guys in the second round or undrafted. They have the potential to make a huge impact on our team even though their skill sets are limited.

Right now, my top 5 are:
1.) Klay Thompson (above all)
2.) Jimmer Fredette (quickly rising)
3.) Kenneth Faried (nothing has changed, but others impressed)
4.) Nikola Vucevic (certainly intriguing with his measurements)
5.) Reggie Jackson/Darius Morris/Lucas Nogueira

I think anyone who wants him on the Knicks wants him soley for his rebounds. Obviousl he wont help much offensively. And he's not a great defensive presense. He's proved he can grab boards though, thats what people who want him want for the Knicks.

Since I'm the only one who voted for Faried I might as well answer

The one thing he does really well is our biggest weakness and a huge part of defense. Rebounding, hustle and energy should translate right away. And we lost games because of rebounding.

Will he be a good post defender? Its hard to project since most young bigs are terrible at post defense to start off. Who would have thought that Nick Collison would turn into a really good post defender? A lot of it is about hard work, toughnes and effort and Faried has that so I'm hopeful.

I still like these guys with our pick though too:
-Klay Thompson
-Jimmer
-Darius Morris
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce

I answered Tyler because I think that he will prove himself to be the best big, during the workouts, available at 17. He should be able to block/alter shots and rebound right away. He has the size and length to help our interior defense. I'm sure we can pick up a number of guards in the late 1st/ early 2nd round.

On that list, imo if Jimmer is there we have to take him. So I selected him. I think offensively he'd set up Amare and Melo perfectly, and when players slack on him he'd make them pay hitting open shots. If Jiimmer was gone id go with Faried.

I don't understand the Faried hype here. What's the point of having an solid rebounder if he'll only play 10-15 minutes a game? Sure it'll help us in bursts, but our first unit will still be out-rebounded, so we'll need someone we can plug into the starting lineup at center to clean the glass.

And before anyone says it, no, Faried should NOT be playing center, and neither should Amare or anyone else on our current roster. Parading SFs and PFs at the 5 does not work!

If we draft Faried at 17 we'll still have to go out and buy a starting caliber center. On top of needing a back up PG and SG, I don't see how Faried makes sense for us if there are other players on the board better suited. I know this could be considered drafting for need, and consequently considered a foolish move, but it is what it is. As bad as we need rebounding, we need size more, and we need to let Amare play his natural position.

Were talking about Willie Reed of St. Louis right? If so didnt he get kicked off the team after being accused of rape? I believe it was a case of the girl saying that Reed and a friend had sex with her while she was heavily intoxicated and not able to give consent? Good thing is police appear to have dismissed it but surprisingly the school proceeded with the action it took to dump Reed.

Yep. Willie Reed supposedly never had sex with the girl. His teammate did in the bedroom, while I guess Reed was in the common area of the dorm. Afterward when the girl accused the teammate of rape, Reed got into trouble for basically being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Here is a link to the story here.

http://www.ksdk.com/news/local/story.as ... yid=221795

After that whole complicated mess, Reed got suspended from St. Louis, then was readmitted but tried to transfer to Kansas State instead. For whatever reason he decided go back to St. Louis and ultimately ended up just declaring for the draft.

With all those red flags and the fact that he had to sit out last season, Reed will most likely go undrafted unless someone takes a chance on him in the second round, but he does have 1st round talent.

I want either Klay Thompson or Jimmer. We need shooting in the worst way. Someone who can stand in the corner and consistently bomb 3's to keep the court spread for Melo and Stat. It doesn't hurt that both guys play with high basketball IQ and are more than adequate passers.

i really don't want to get enamored with jimmer but its tough not to want a guy like that on this team. no he isn't a great defender, but the guy does not **** miss. on a team with melo and stat, that dude could put up 30 points by accident.

i think I'm gonna switch my vote to jimmer.
