Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
To TOR: Brandon Jennings + Corey Maggette + Raja Bell + #10 (Val/Biyombo)
To MIL: Jose Calderon + Leandro Barbosa + #3 (Kanter)
To UTA: Ersan IIlyasova + #5 (Knight)
UTA gets Knight who they contemplate taking at #3 anyway the difference is they can cut Irsan because hes ungauranteed and save over 6 million.
TOR gets a PG whos good friends with Demar, add defense and 3 point shooting with Bell and grab a project big.
MIL gets the perfect player next to Bogut (Kanter) and a spot starter in Calderon while adding some scoring off the bench in Barbosa.
* Follow up Maggette for anything (example Diop + Najera + 2012 2nd Round Pick + Cash) Grab a 2nd, open up playing time for Johnson/Klezia to develop and we just dont need him on our team. Id use both ours 2nds next year, throw in cash and try and move up into the late 1st round and steal something then.
Jennings / Bayless / PG (signed, FA)
Derozan / Bell
Johnson / Klezia / Najera
Davis / Amir / Diop
Bargnani / *Bioymbo / Alabi
that addresses everything BC talked about, no? Bayless becomes the 6th man where he just gets to score off the bench.
* if they go before #10 which is possible i dont know what i do.

Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
^ I like it alot - nice work - definitely would want to flip Maggette right away, though. I want Johnson and Kleiza at the 3 for now. I'm really high on Biyombo and love the idea of trading down for him if we can get our PG somewhere else (jennings).
I think it addresses everything BC wants - with the exception that I think they want a veteran C for the short-term, as opposed to another project. Diop could potentially fill that role but I was hoping for someone with more talent (see my Marcus Camby proposal).
Take it to the trade board and see if other teams would do it - I'm getting some good feedback on my MIN-POR-TOR deal. Mixed reviews but both the other teams have interest in the deal.

i actually thought of potentially doing #10 + Maggette for Diop + Najera + #9
which would hopefully ensure us one of the bigs.

Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
Okay, so I have my wheelin'-n-dealin' hat on with the news of Valanciunas' possible buyout:
1. Assuming Utah likes Knight over Kanter, Val, Vesely - I'd trade with them to move up to 3, where we can beat Cleveland to the punch, and take Jonas Valanciunas. Also, with that, the salary scale at 3 should be enough to resolve any buyout issues for Val.
The deal in principle, would look like #5 or the rights to Brandon Knight + a future protected 1st rd. pick (2012, 2013, 2014 - any one of those years) + cash considerations for #3 or the rights to Jonas Valanciunas.
2. I'd arrange for a deal that would send Andrea Bargnani + Jerryd Bayless to the Sacramento Kings for #7 & Francisco Garcia, and we'd use that newly acquired pick to take UCONN G Kemba Walker.
So, the draft, from that point, would look like:
1. Irving
2. Williams (Pacers or Bucks trade up for him)
3. Valanciunas (picked by UTA, rights dealt to TOR)
4. Kanter (fall back option now that Val is off the board)
5. Knight
6. Thompson or Leonard
7. Walker (selected for the Raptors)
Possible scenario?

Knight and Kemba I believe are better talents that Val and with #10 I think I'd be selecting Leonard.

I basically just want barbosa and Calderon traded, as even though I like both players I feel like them recieving minutes is a negative for the team right now. I think Charlotte would be a logical destination for both
Barbosa+Calderon for Diaw/Diop/19? I think we should be able to get 19 out of them there considering they are recieving the two best players in the trade, or at least 2/3 (diop is pretty meh)
Or just calderon/diaw and then barbosa to whoever gives us the best combo of pics/young talent, maybe to chicago for asik/brewer?
Assuming trade 1, draft a PG
Bargs/diop/amir
Davis/amir
Diaw/Johnson
Derozan/bayless/weems
Walker or knight/Bayless
Minutes wise I would say
Bargs 33
Ed 31
Amir 24
Diop 8
Diaw 24
Johnson 24
Derozan 33
Starting PG 30
bayless 30
weems 3? lol
Something like that anyways

Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
Just wanted to share some feedback I got from my trade proposal from posters in the Minnesotta and Portland boards:
To MIN: Fernandez + Calderon
To POR: Flynn + Pekovic + $7.2M TPE
To TOR: Camby + Ridnour
From Minnesota:
Most of the other posters just ranted and complained about Calderon - but were interested Fernandez.
From Portland:
Still, there were some who were rather negative (isn't there always?)
What this says to me is that we need to sweeten the pot for Minnesota. Perhaps instead of Calderon we offer of Barbosa?

I'd do that. I like this deal alot for Minny.
Ricky gets comfortable with some familiar faces and we get an upgrade at the SG spot (until we can find a better one)

Not a bad trade.
by SalemStoner on Sun May 22, 2011 11:50 am
I don't have any desire to add Flynn. I'd much rather trade for Ridnour than Flynn.
I kind of like Pekovic, and would be happy to add him.
If you swapped Flynn and Ridnour's destinations I would personally be persuaded to do this.
by blazers73 on Sun May 22, 2011 3:23 pm
I'd be OK with this trade.
Camby for Pekovic. Yea Camby is the better player now but Pekovic has the potential to be a solid bigman, and is a whole lot younger. I do wonder if we could get more for Camby. And I worry about Camby going to a noncontender and deciding to just retire. A lot of guys talk like this but it is all negotiating. I think Camby means it.
Oden/Pekovic
Aldridge/Wallace
If healthy, I can't believe I just wrote that as a possibility but one can dream, are some nice bigs. Of course we would have to attain at least one more guy who could play decent minutes. But we already need to do that.
Rudy for Flynn or Ridnour. PG is a position of need. We can take a chance on the young Flynn or we can continue to have a stopgap PG like Ridnour. Ridnour is younger but no pup and can shoot. This would also allow us to trade Miller. Either would be fine by me. I think Rudy would be solid on another team.
by portlandpilot on Sun May 22, 2011 8:54 pm
I would do this. And I would much rather have Flynn than Ridnour. Flynn did not fit into the triangle at all, but that doesn't mean he can't be a good player, and he would be a very dynamic backup for a year or two. We don't really give up that much in this deal, and we acquire some interesting young pieces.
Still, there were some who were rather negative (isn't there always?)

Re: 2011-12 Toronto Raptors Trade Ideas Thread Pt II
^^ I'd want Flynn coming our way, because of cap purposes (as well as taking a flyer on a young guy). Camby+Flynn for Jose is a good for our rebuild imo, especially if we draft a C like Biyombo, who could learn a ton from a great defensive C like Camby.
My guess is that there will likely be Minny fans strongly opposed to this (Flynn is worth more than this! Jose is overpaid garbage, we need Ridnour, etc.). Portland might not like it either, since they're still competing in the West, Camby is the only backup C they have under contract, and Oden is no sure thing for them).

Why would portland do that? They give up their starting center for a guy whose probably going to come off the bench behind andre miller and another guy who'll only play during garbage time

would MIN do this?
To TOR: Webster + Pekovic + Hayward + 3rd Team Player
To MIN: Calderon + Barbosa
To 3rd Team: Ridnour
* Maybe the 3rd team would send some sort of incentive to MIN, the player could be anyone really. Maybe Charlie Bell from GSW and they swap #11 for #18? Or a future pick in 2012 from a team.
Knight / Bayless
Derozan / Webster
Johnson / Klezia / Hayward
Davis / Amir
Bargnani / Pekovic / Alabi

I saw the rumour about Memphis rejecting the #4 pick from Cleveland for Rudy Gay and I thought; I know we can't get Rudy for our pick, but what about OJ Mayo? So I came up with:
To Toronto: OJ Mayo + Tony Allen
To Memphis: #5 + Leandro Barbosa
Basically Mayo takes over Barbosa's role and we acquire a lockdown defender in Tony Allen. Now I realize it creates a wing glut but I'm not sure the 5th pick would allow us to get more value than this seeing as how Barbosa will likely walk away for nothing unless we deal him now. You essentially deal #5 for two young players.

I like it. I've always been a fan of Mayo and I think he has a lot of potential. Perhaps even all-star potential but it's been a rough ride for him over there in Memphis. The one issue I have with Mayo's game is that he shoots too much and doesn't attack the rim enough and I think his defense could get better. DeRozan's a great player but I'm worried about whether or not he can develop a consistent 3.
If I did this deal, I wouldn't be sending Barbosa over. I'd look to move him to the Celtics, Bulls, Magic etc. Any contender looking for offense and get back a late first in 2012 or a pair of seconds. That way, we'll get capspace to go after a C this year in free agency.
#5 for Mayo sounds good to me if there are no other possibilities. I'd rather Mayo more than anyone else in this draft.
Also if we could move Bargnani to Phoenix, Sacramento, Utah etc for a 2012 first rounder

As a Bucks fan, i think Hammond would at least listen to offers for Jennings, but i really doubt they'd want Bargnani and the deal you came up with.
I want the Bucks to blow things up big time and thus if we traded Brandon, would simply prefer a draft pick/picks back instead of something like you brought up. A Toronto fan came to our board and asked about something like Jennings/Maggette for #5/Calderon straight up. That i'd have to really consider even though i'd have some trepidation that Jennings in time learns how to finish in the paint given he can get there so easily.
Plus, our team rarely ever allows Jennings to get out on the break where he can use his great quickness because our roster has zero athletic ability on it to run with Brandon. He'd sometimes start out on a break, and then quickly he remembers that he has no really athletic wings who finish well on the break, so he just slows things up and waits for his teammates to get past halfcourt.

I think that's a great package you'd be getting for Jennings. You get to unload the Maggette contract and take on a much more reasonable one (albeit a longer one) in Bargnani. Bargs would definitely provide the offense that Maggette was supposed and playing along side Bogut should be a very exciting frontcourt. Get a young PG in Flynn to replace Jennings and a cheaper SF in Kleiza. Taking back Calderon + #5 would clog up more money and likely would not yield that piece you all are looking for to push the Bucks forward.
But if Calderon + #5 is what you'd want, I think I'd pull the trigger.
