Trade Jefferson?

Post#1 » by HolyToledo » Wed May 25, 2011 3:29 pm

Assuming the Jazz pick Kanter over Kemba Walker (I just read Jazz prefer Walker over Knight). do the Jazz look into trading away Jefferson who has some value now. Not too many teams will want to pay his contract, but it looks like Houston is hiring Mchale and he loves Jefferson. How about this trade?

Jefferson and 12th pick for Martin and budinger

Jazz lineup:

PG Harris Watson Price
SG Martin Miles
C Memo Kanter Fess
PF Favors Millsap Evans
SF Hayward Budinger Miles

If Harris and Memo playe well and Favors develops, then playoffs here we come.
Top 4 seed in the West!!! Guaranteed!!!

I think that this trade actually has legs. I like it from both team's perspective, but I also think that since Jefferson is only 26 he can still fit with the team we have now. I'd rather trade Millsap.

Gordon started 11 games at guard, and only 6 at forward. He's our SG, and Millsap can play SF. Our ideal lineup prior to the draft would be..

Jefferson
Favors
Millsap
Hayward
Harris

I would prefer Jefferson to slip to the PF, as Favors could be our anchor on defense from the center position.

You can't really count on Okur to be a starter, IMO. Hell I think Kanter will be more effective from day one than Okur at this point. Two seasons ago, Okur put up 13.5pp and 7.1rpg, last seasons with injuries, his stats really don't say much, but I wouldn't put much faith on a man who has suffered back spasms for years now, and just suffered a injury riddled year.
