Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Would Detroit go for a deal of Blake, Walton, Caracter, and Ebanks for Rip Hamilton? The money isn't very different and I think Blake would be a big benefit for them along with two young guys to develop. Rip would be a nice bet off the bench next to Barnes. Then you use the TPE and the MLE to acquire two PGs and you're set with a solid bench.
PG- Farmar
SG- Hamilton
SF- Barnes
PF- Odom

I'm intrigued by trading Gasol to the Timberwolves. I was reading the thread on the Trade and Transactions board and it got me thinking, what if we traded Gasol/Ebanks/Future 1st to the T-Wolves for the #2 pick/Milicic/Flynn/Webster. Then struck a deal with NOH, something along the lines of Paul/Okafor/West for #2 pick/Flynn/Milicic/all of our 2nd rounders and one or two future 1sts.
LAL Roster
Paul/Blake/Fisher
Bryant/Barnes/Fisher
Artest/Webster
Okafor/West
Bynum/Gadzuric
I just threw West in there assuming NOH would like to get rid of him and his salary so they can begin to build around that #2 pick (D-Will) and Flynn.
NOH Roster
Flynn/Jack/Banks
Ariza/Belinelli/Green
Derrick Williams (he's gone on the record as to saying he wants to play SF not PF)/Pondexter/Ewing Jr.
Landry/Milicic/Smith
Gray/Mbenga/Anderson
jetset, why would the hornets trade that package for gasol when they could, as you seem to think, GET CHRIS PAUL WITH IT?
Huh?
Gasol is going to Minnesota not NOH. NOH will receive the #2 overall pick/Flynn (to replace Paul)/Milicic/picks
It actually looks like a good deal to me if we could find a way to make it work money wise.

You wouldn't trade Bynum for Biedrins and Curry? Wow.
No I would not. I'm just not in love with Curry as most of you seem to be.
AI-in-LA wrote:Again, just landing CP3 would be tough salary wise, adding in Okefor would never work without a massive TPE from the Wolves trade ... adding west, not gonna happen.
And yeah sort of figured that, I just threw in West for pizazz. Would be great if we could get him too though.

I agree .. I'd love to see West backing up
Odom if we lose Pau .... doubt he would accept the MLE as some goofy team will probably throw 8-9 mil per at him.

Believe me, I'm not in love with Curry, but an always injured Bynum for Curry and Biedrins is a solid deal, especially if Curry helps you land CP3.

ey who lead the 15 pt come back against Por in that fourth in 99? Who usually had to check the oppsooing best G? sure as hell wasn't Fisher....so great defensively that we have to resort to bringing in a washed up Payton in 04 huh? As for Biens being a throw in, yea some throw in, $10mill/yr to come off the bench my god, for that kind of money he better be the best dam bench player in the league.....but probably not to worried he'll be starting in no time with our "air apparent" injury prone C goes down with his annual vacation...its going to be comical when Bien starts next to Odom but hey who cares, we'll have Curry chucking away from 3's and while giving up just as much if not more then he scores himself....it'll just be like Fish all over again but much more chucking and probably more made layups at least
Why do you keep calling curry a chucker? do you have any idea what you are talking about?
answer: no.
yes cause your knowledge is quite advanced with the notion that having a guy make $10mill/yr coming off the bench is a good idea.....but like I said, it might be when our resident "future" goes down with his annual mid-season to season ending vacation you know why I call Curry a chucker, cause when I see him play I see, dribble dribble shot, get a pick shoot, run up the floor shoot a 3, and so on and for a PG his ass/to sure seems nice, its almost 1 to 1, with 3.1 TO/5.8 asst. and I thought your original trade idea was Pau for those 2? But if not then nvm, I'll take that deal, its just going to be quite ugly seeing Pau/Bien at C, if we looked bad before with PG penetration, can't imagine how much worse it would be w/o Bynum there or at least a C that'll challenge the shot.

After seeing MB hired i'll try this trade
Gasol + 2nd round pick for AV, #4 and Gibson
Let this be a Kobe and Drew team....

Again the lakers are basically trading gasol for the #2/Flynn/Darko and then flipping that package to NO for cp3. Why wouldn't the wolves just cut the lakers out and offer the exact same thing for Paul????
And why would Cleveland trade the #4 for a 32 year old forward who wasn't a great #1 option??
None of these deals are realistic.

Realistic is just adding two different PGs and a SG. These trades become nonsense in that case.

Because not every F.O. is as brave as the Nets. Minnesota would be basically giving all those assets up for a star who wants to win now and would bolt to NY in F.A. Not sure about you but I think Paul would find playing for the Lakers a lot more enticing than playing for the Timberwolves or Knicks. Simple question was simple.

And trading the 2nd best C in the league for an overrated shooter of a PG who contributes absolutely nothing on the defensive side of the ball and a washed up Biedrins is realistic and fair to both parties? Lakers get ripped off trading Bynum anything short of Howard, and they definitely get raped if they trade him for a Curry and half a Biedrins.

If we're going heavy and pick and roll why not Johnny Flynn? He's a very good player when he's not trying to fit the triangle. The weakness of those Cavs teams tended to be their ball dominance based on one drive player and the lack of a post-up threat.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
The speculation is pointless because the wolves laugh at a deal which is basically gasol for the #2.
I don't see how curry is an overrated shooter when he has posted two ridiculously efficient seasons as the #2/3 option.
His defensive defencies are overated. He is an average to above average defender at best and with his BBIQ, hes only going to get better.
I think it would be very fair if GS included their 11th pick.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Calling Flynn very good at anything is more than a stretch.
And if were gonna call curry a bad defender, then Flynn is bordering on unplayable.

Look at potential though. Flynn in college was very good and can improve tremendously. A lot of young players lately have not been taught any fundamentals by NBA coaches. Brown might change that. He made Mo Williams decent.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Certainly id like Flynn for his potential in a different scenario, but we have nothing to offer the wolves unless they want caracter and 2nd round picks. They'd have no interest in ebanks with their glut of forwards and Bynum would be very much overpay.
Flynns college success has no bearing on what he is in the NBA. The fact that ridnour was more preferable to him speaks volumes about his quality. But hey, I could be wrong.

That would be his value. Pretty much seconds considering he has a large deal. It's not his success it's his success plus the capable NBA caliber defensive tools he has that should have him becoming a great defender.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
You can go ahead and see if wolves fans think Flynn is with ebanks/caracter + 2nd rounders. I think he has a bit more value than that, not much, just a bit.
Tbh I'd rather we just develop ebanks who I think has a lot more defensive capabilities and NBA potential.

I think the Wolves would serious consider it instead of "laugh" like you said, but I guess we'll agree to disagree.
And the 11th pick is nothing but garbage seeing as all the ace prospects will probably be gone by the 8th pick.
I really don't have a feeling when it comes to Flynn, if we got him then great if not then whatever. As long as Fisher isn't starting I'm good. And yeah we'd might need to throw in a future 1st to sweeten the deal if we want Flynn.

Re: Official Transaction Ideas thread
Why would the wolves have any interest in gasol? He is a good 2nd option and at this point, a questionable #1. Why give up a #2 for that when they clearly aren't in a postion to contend?
The wolves are interested in youth, picks and obviously, superstars. Gasol just doesn't fulfill any of those needs.
