Athletic Testing Results

Post#1 » by erudite23 » Thu May 26, 2011 1:05 am

As many of you probably already know, it has taken a ridiculous amount of time for the athletic testing results to be released this year, and there's been no reason of any kind given for it. DX finally has put up a brief leaderboard type list of the results. (haha...as I was typing this, I just received a Chad Ford tweet on my phone, lawl)

http://www.draftexpress.com/article/201 ... ults-3725/

Points of note:

- Knight is indeed among the fastest quickest players in the draft, posting the 3rd highest score in the sprint and the 4th and 6th overall in the lane agility drills (the short and the full, respectively). The shocking part? Jimmer beat him out in both agility tests, though he didn't come close in the sprint.

- Derrick Williams finishes 1st in bench reps.

- Josh Selby with a ridiculous 42' vert. Wow.. :o

- Singleton did amazing in the sprint (neck and neck with BK) and in the bench press. Love what I'm seeing with him.

Full results should be up later tonight.

Curious to see what happens with knight and kanter's vertical rsults. I've seen the videos of kanter's vertical, but not his numbers.

Solid post. I'm interested in what the agility tests are. Are they lateral quickness, hand spead, etc? Anyone happen to know the details?

Jimmer with a 33 inch vert, and Leonard is returning very poor athletic results, could be around at 12.

I really don't know if it does. His in game lack of defense is going to be hard to look past. You could be right though.

I think this does wonders for Jimmers stock. Teams are more inclined to think that his defensive struggles were just because of his mentality on defense and him not wanting to get into foul trouble rather than a lack of physical ability. You can improve on poor fundamentals and a weak defensive mentality but you usually can't improve poor physical tools.

And I thought that Knight was better than Irving before this. I dought this would launch Knight above Irving but it should. Not bad from Kemba either. And I was at least expecting Kanter to be top 10 in bench presses, at least he's not the worst in anything.

How do you figure? Based on his athletic testing results he's going to fall a spot?

For a quick comparison, Kanter's max vert is the exact same as JaVale McGee.

Want to see what his max vert reach is before I make any real judgment however.

Just for historical reference, and because I was in shock of it, Shaq measured out to having a higher max vert than Derrick Favors and Amare Stoudamire.

That is terrifying.

If you do the math, Kanter should be in the 11'9 - 11'11 max vert reach. Basically between DeMarcus cousins at the lowest, and Nene at the highest.

Good point Happy Prole. Truth is i'm being hopeful. At this point with the Kanter buzz and Williams doing well it will be Mr. I dont do athletic testing (Irving) who falls to us. However i think the Cavs just take Irving 1. I have though Williams was the best player in this draft for a while. When we moved up to 3 i was dancing around the room knowing we had a shot at getting the kid.

Shaq could jump back in the day.

These numbers are interesting.

Did anyone notice that Jimmer had the fastest agility time of any of the top 30 prospects?

Wow, very surprised that Jimmer tested that well in agility, that is great news. Dude is also freaking yoked, 14 bench presses? Wow! That will definitely help his draft stock, and helps show that he may have potential to play decent defense if he is asked to. Too bad his vert wasn't great.

I'm impressed with Kanter. The more I hear about him, the more I like. I'm feeling a lot better about picking at 3 now that he is showing really well, and Williams is also. Either one should be a good bet.

Knight looks quick, but I am feeling worse about getting him at 3 since Kanter is looking so good, and there are some decent prospects that can be had at 12.

Did Leonard even show up for testing? Sheesh... Jimmer outjumped him, he only put up 3 reps, and was outagiled by Kanter! The only thing he had going for him from testing was his sprint and hand size. Not a good sign.

Some people in here were questioning Knight's athleticism.
