It's certainly possible that some of these guys aren't trying very hard in the combine, because like Givony said these don't mean a ton. But for those posters in this thread, and you know who you are, who said Knight is a "a bad athlete," I think we can safely say that isn't the case. He's very big, he's long, and he's quick, all good attributes for a PG.

At the very least we can stash the poor athleticism claim away with the "Kanter's knee's have AIDS" rumors.

I think it's interesting that Ginony himself admits these numbers are mostly nonsense. He brings up Durant as a classic case of a guy who had horrible athletic measurements, and not just the infamous bench press failure. His vert was poor, too.

Durant compared pretty well to people his size mabey not SF's but he is 6'10. His max vertical is above average for his size, which is the vertical measurement thats important for his style of play. His standing vertical is a tad below average for his size but that doesn't mean anything unless your playing under the basket or need to jump straight up without a step which he doesn't. And you can tell by watching him that his agility and speed are a bit below average even for his size but those two measurements don't matter much for him because he's mostly a shooter, neither was horrible tho. His great wingspan and height are more important for his style of play. Plus his low weight and failure at bench press indicate that he has weak strength which he does.

So I don't think they are non-sense at all but everyone knows you need more than just great physical tools to be successful. Great physical tools can help a great deal tho.

For a PG, I rather see how fast the guy is with the ball rather than running without it. Using the eye test, not many people would say Knight is faster than Wall with the ball in the open court.....

37.5 inch vert for knight as well, very solid numbers.
