Hopefully. It just seems really primitive when compared to live but I guess then again, that's what we pay for.

It's certainly a simpler interface, but as you said, it's free. And it used to work well. Shrug.

Welp, I'm all set Ps3 wise! Bought MGS4 when I got it and I am now hooked. Went tow Pawn America last week and grabbed Uncharted for 14 bucks. Today UPS just dropped off to $6 blue rays I bought form an online sale. I got Carlito's Way (One of my favorite gangster flicks of all time) and Starship Troopers. I Am pretty close to beating Yakuza 2 on PS2 (One of my favorite series!) and Yakuza 3 just came in today. Right now I could be stranded on an island with this stuff and as long as I could get it all up and running, I still wouldn't be finished with it by the time someone discovered me. LOL. It's going to take forever to get through all of this.

The fact that updates can take more than 30 minutes, in some cases an hour+ is ridiculous. They really need to streamline some of this crap. Coming from live it just seems a little absurd to put up with this stuff.
Agreed on that crap. Updates are absolutely ridiculous.

got Star Ocean Second Evolution. Really digging the extra cutscenes over the original. Playing through Rena's story... is it just me or are there a lot of plot holes compared to Claude? I find myself doing things just because I know thats what I'm supposed to do, not because the plot suggestes it and fililng in gaps because I already know the story. Claude's game really spells out whats going on but Rena just glides along in her own little world.

Whats up with star ocean kind of been interested in it for a while. Seems kind of like star trek (good) but still seems really Japanese RPGish (bad). I'm mixed.

I haven't played the Xbox/PS2 games, only the SNES/PSX/PSP games. but its an action RPG in sci-fi setting. Its kinda like diablo meets FF3 as opposed to a Zelda type game. You get into random battles like FF, but on the battlefield you free roam and kill with special attacks you set to hotkeys. The plots will not win any awards, certainly JRPG cookie cutter catastrophe looming only 1 man/woman and their rag-tag band of friends can save the day sort of thing.

 This Is the crap I am talking about when it comes to the PS3. I just bought Yakuza 3 new. Inside there is a coupon for some nice DLC. I'm reading it over and at the bottom of the code it says "Expires on April, 1st, 2011"

What the hell is that? Why make someone's DLC for buying a new game expire? I'm not certain but I really don't think Microsoft would let that fly. Seems like any company can do whatever the hell they want on the Ps3 when it comes to online. Make you sign up and register on stupid websites, put out expiring DLC, whatever. It's like the wild west. It doesn't even make sense to me why they would put an expiration date on this. They should get slapped.

The PS3 needs to have a collective bargaining agreement. LOL, we need some better consumer rights.

I'd imagine they can't have DLC available for every game forever. That game came out over a year ago. It's not like the DLC only lasted a few weeks or until the price first dropped. Also I've never had to sign up on any website to play a ps3 game.

I definitely agree about the updates though. The worst is when you see it is for photo album or something else you never use.

The answer is more than likely used game sales. Publishers cry about Gamestop's used sales all the time--they act like it's as bad as piracy.

I think it's BS but I'm guessing that's why your code expired.

I just beat Super Metroid after being stuck for about two years. Good stuff.

I seem to recall a recent statement by a game developer that said used game sales are more damaging than piracy. I can't say too much about it as I didn't read any more than the title/quick summary.

I can't believe Diablo III is finally coming out. I always thought it was going to be the "New Guns N Roses cd" of video games but unfortunately that mantle seems to have passed to KOTOR. I suppose you could count the upcoming MMO seeing as how the graphics and physics looks eerily similar to KOTOR on the XBox...

Liking what I'm seeing from Madden this year. You get to assemble your own playbooks and get to change teams in franchise and edit rookie/veteran players ala 2K. They re-did signing, scouting, and trading in franchise mode while apparently upgrading the CPU's AI. They added player roles which will change throughout the season/career. The example I read is a QB has a great playoff performance and comes back with the "playoff warrior" (or something like that) role for the next season. If they fix the blocking physics/AI so you can roll with a legit 34 defense I'll be a happy man.

That was pretty cruel of them to release the new Elder Scrolls game so close to my wife's birthday.

That's a freaking joke. I bought my brother a N64 from pawn America. Pokemon Stadium was like 8 bucks there LOL

Anyway, the whole used game damaging the game industry thing is a load of BS. Yes game developers miss out on an enormous amount of revenue because they don't make any money on used games, that's true. However, the vast majority of companies that create products don't make a dime off of their products being sold second hand either. ON top of that. EVERY SINGLE used game ever sold was at one time bought new. It's not like they never got their sale.

They are just mad becasue other retailers make a killing trading used games and they see nothing. Now, they found a way to try to punish gamers for buying used games. This is a unique feature to videogames. By doing things like charging for online play on used games they can garner some additional profits on their product.

I understand they want more money, who doesn't? But when they cry like used games are destroying them and try to make consumers feel guilty for looking for a deal, that pisses me off. Book publishers don't rip out the last chapter of a used book and charge you 2 bucks to finish it. Clothes manufactures don't cut out the pockets and charged 5 bucks to sew them back in. They understand that once they sell their product, people are going to do with it as they wish.

What irks me further is companies are getting more and more inclined to nickel and dime you. Now in fighting games they want you to pay for extra costumes. Those used to be unlock able. Now you pay for extra skins, you pay for new maps, you pay for new weapons. Sometimes the DLC they put out is already in the game data but they wait until after the game comes out so they can charge you for it.

They do all this and then some of them have the nerve to act like they are being victimized becasue people don't want to pay $60 for their mediocre game and would rather wait 9 months to get it for $30 used.

Exactly! Developers see used games worse than piracy.

The thing that irritates the hell out of me now a days is that these retro game stores won't even price their games until someone asks them how much it is. They run over to the computer and look for the highest price they can find on Ebay and add like $10 on top of that. Garage sales, goodwills, pawn shops, and craigslist all do it to a certain extent as well.

Yeah, it's all BS. The current development model is obviously not sustainable, what with all of the devs going under this generation.

If these companies didn't have such stupid management they wouldn't be bitching about used sales. I mean, deal with it, just like every other industry has to. It's laughable.

I also hate DLC. The closer consoles get to PCs, the worse this will likely get. Right now people still have to deal with games that don't work on day 1 (FO3, Dragon Age, list any western RPG) and also get charged for stuff that is ON THE DISC.

The way I see it, natural selection is going to continue hitting these companies hard. This is kind of getting into a much broader view of the industry, but if they continue to be run so horribly they're going to be in financial trouble at some point. I hope.

Besides, the most well run developers don't complain about this stuff. It's only the mismanaged ones that do.

Traded Beasley, Webster, Pekovic, 1st to GS for Ellis, Biedrins. (Forgot to counter with them sending their 1st, but oh well). Ended the season 30-52, so the Warriors had the #7 and the #9 slots in the lottery. Somehow, the #8 and #10 teams both ended up top 3, so GS ended up with #9 (via MIN) and #10. When the draft began, we were immediately offered #1 for Randolph and Ridnour. I didn't want to give up either player just yet, so I countered with #1 for Flynn, and THEY ACCEPTED. Against all my real-life beliefs, I took Irving #1. With the #37 pick, I was torn between taking Nogueriaor Vucevic. I decided on Vucevic because he has an NBA body and seems more NBA-ready. So, going into free agency, my roster is...

Irving / Ridnour
Ellis / Ellington
Johnson / Hayward
Love / Randolph / Tolliver
Biedrins / Milicic / Vucevic
