When the Suns came back from a 3-1 defecit..

Post#1 » by J the Drafter » Wed May 25, 2011 10:24 pm

...how did they do it? This is just idle curiosity from a fan who's seen a couple teams go down 3-1 and lose. What made that Suns-Lakers series different?

Not really sure how it happened....Game 5 wasn't too bad for us, but Game 6 was just lucky. Tim Thomas hit an absolutely insane 3, and then we took over in OT. Game 7 was in Phoenix and we had all the momentum. We completely blew them out in the 1st half, and then Kobe gave up and actually refused to shoot in the 2nd half(one of my favorite memories).

A pretty incredible series, that's for sure.

The Suns team was much better than the Lakers team, so it was much easier to come back. Caught a few unlucky breaks the first few games which ended up evening out. We got fired up with Raja's clothesline, he got suspended for Game 6 while we got timely shooting and play from guys like Barbosa, Marion, and Tim Thomas and won that one on the road, and we had Game 7 at home where we simply beat the hell out of them. That Game 7 was no contest, really. Kobe quit on his team, we were far superior, we were at home, our shots were falling like crazy.....

Tim Thomas saved Game 6.... Diaw played like a semi- all star in the playoffs also.

Tim Thomas was the key though... wasnt afraid to shoot and light it up.... only if he was smart enough to sign with the Suns, he would still be playing as he was a SHOE In with the Suns system.

That fit of pique solidified my serious dislike of Kobe - none of the heroes of my childhood would ever have done anything like that.

For Suns history, refer to BH. He remembers every win, every loss and every Laker fan that looked at him funny. :D

Anyone have a copy of Suns @ Spurs 2007 Playoffs Game4?

While we're having a dose of nostalgia; someone tell me the story of that epic game 4 comeback. :D

That's the Horry game isn't it? I think all Suns fans burned their copy of that game and tried the best to erase it from their memories. I don't even remember a comeback. After that game, there were no good feelings. Everyone was just thinking "**** the NBA" That was one of the most depressing Suns victories that I can remember.

Well, you know, at the time it was awesome...The behind the back specials from Nash to Amare.

Game 5 is the real bummer.

Man, I always saw Horry as a dirty player but I never outright detested him until that incident. He was clearly going for the injury there, pulling a true Danny Fortson.

I can't believe I don't remember it. Could it be that I ACTUALLY blocked out the entire game bc of how traumatic it was?

And I always thought of Horry as a POS but that took it to a WHOLE new level.

And the Fortson reference.....I still wonder if Zarko would have been good. He was showing some nice little flashes.
