I see some similarities between all three players.
Slightly undersized for the 4/5 position( They're all 6'9" or under), poor defensive rebounders, hustle hard, good shotblockers, poor FT shooter and raw offensively
The thing is, these type of players, who'll probably be role players throughout their NBA career, should be taken in the second round. They'll be the energy guys off the bench
So why is Tristan Thompson a lottery/top 10 pick??? This is a weak draft for sure, but player of his skill shouldve been a 2nd rounder in a better draft. His measurments are particularly poor and i think its a MAJOR reach to draft him in the top 10

Maxiell was 6'6" and Varnado was a twig that could only block shots. Thompson has much more potential.

Tristan Thompson isn't tall for his position anyway. He's 6'8.75" in shoes, thats sub-average

If you had any knowledge on these prospects, you would realize there is a difference between them all.

6'9 with a 7'2 wingspan and 9'1 standing reach is decent for a PF

This all day. And the said thing is, this poster posts the exact same argument in nearly every single thread thinking that he/she is saying something & then she comes back with insults, her routine is very very old and Im surprised the mods have let her go on for so long.

I think more should be said about measurements.

Tristan Thompson isn't a poor defensive rebounder. His role in the Texas defensive system was to challenge every shot, and that takes you out of defensive rebounding position. If anything, his shot blocking is somewhat overrated by the volume of attempts. His rebounding, as can be seen on the offensive end, is very good. In either case, he made a massive defensive impact as a college freshman.
