Yeah, keep Fruitman and maybe send Cuzzolin back to Benetton Treviso?

Steve Friutman fired? Blasphemy!

Say what you will in hindsight about Hedo BUT that 4 team trade was freaking masterful. That was a huge trade to pull for the Raptors at the time. No need to hate on Steve just because the pieces that we got didn't work out.

As for Maurizio...meh. I was all for him when silently made a commitment to the whole Euro movement. 5 years later and he hasn't done a lot in terms of producing anything. Unless we strike gold with any of the international bigs this year I don't know why we would keep him. I would like to see him stick around Team Canada but I assume hes getting another job quickly if/when he leaves.

Rich Cho would be an excellent replacement. I am sad that Maurizio might not be around the Canadian National Basketball Program anymore, everyone spoke highly of him and the results were constantly getting better on the court and in the front office. I personally think he is a considerable asset to any organization.

It must be a mutual agreement between BC & MG. Possible that he wants to go back home for his family.
I was hoping that we'd see more results from MG during these years like: Blatt/Messina, Ruby.

Regardless, it is time to bring more people who are well connected in NBA, like Ronnie Lester.

I don't know why people think if BC wanted to move Andrea that it would make any difference if MG was here, or not. If you notice nowhere in the description or roles they are looking to replace no where did it say "nurture Andrea". The fact is both MG and Andrea are Italian, but i think the idea that the two of them are joined at the hip and a package deal, is an oft repeated speculation based on nothing. MG had contacts in European basketball, so he was probably good with other teams, i'm not sure he was ever much of a scout.

Just because you don't know what he did, doesn't mean he did nothing. It just means you don't know what he did. i don't know why fans think they can evaluate the individual members of the front office staff. Seems pretty silly to try.

The WT story on Ronnie Lester being out with the Lakers is intriguing, because it mentions that he was in charge of midwest scouting. Does that mean he was the one who decided to draft M. Gasol in the middle of the second round? That's a nice thing to have on your resume.

I wish Kelly had a similar - or indeed any - credit.

I think MLSE may have been hesitant to give out the money to BC going into a lockout and may have told BC that he needs to trim the payroll. Before his signing he was basically saying everyone is safe in management but now he's taking a we'll see stance.

If the Raptors are truly looking for a decent replacement I think Tony Ronzone may be a name we hear.

And in other news, the Toronto basketball media gets scooped yet again.

Seriously though, has Jim Kelly done anything good for this team since he's been here? I honestly want to know.

Looking for someone with international scouting experience? I thought we're done with this sh!@ ever since we drafted Demar and Ed.

you mean the Toronto after practice transcribers, because that's all they seem to do. That, goof around on twitter and the odd Feshuk hate literature. i give Doug credit for at least blogging. But as for news, it seems we most likely get it here first or on twitter like they do. Look at the Andrea stuff, that 2 year old pic, and the quotes from that interview circulated here way before Feschuk ran with it.

Would you really prefer we no longer consider European prospects?

 I thought Maurizio was brought in to mentor Bargs? And of course, Bellineli was here for a year as another support system for Bargnani.

Was Jim Kelly the person responsible for determining how Turkoglu and Kleiza woudl fit on this team? If so, he sucks at his job

it's not like he was day to day with them. he helped them reorganize, helped them get some more talented people involved helped them make concetions with other teams in Europe and get some sponsorship, but team Canada is far from screwed. All i have to do is think about, Tristan Thompson, Myck Kabongo, the Joseph brothers, Andrew Wiggins, to add to Rautins, Sacre, Witljer, Kendall and I think we'll have a good squad.

If we get rid of Mauricio,Bargs and Triano in the same off-season I might just die of happiness.

Interesting just yesterday that BC referred to MG has "his guy".

I'd assume MG would be leaving in order to go back home. He's paid his dues, had five years to understand how things are done here.

He'll be a bigshot in another org somewhere in the world. Or maybe he goes to NJN.
