Find the Cavs a wing
It seems pretty obvious that the Cavs are going to take Irving at #1, and if they keep #4, they'll probably take Kanter. Unfortunately for them, bigs and points are what they already have.
So your job is to find a good wing or two to pair with Irving/Kanter/Varejao.
Some players that could be traded in the right deal include...
JJ Hickson
Ramon Sessions
Daniel Gibson
Samardo Samuels
Christian Eyenga
Antawn Jamison
Christian Eyenga
Baron Davis
Ryan Hollins (If he opts in)
Semih Erden

Can you trade with the D-league? Only players with marginal value are Hickson, Sessions and maybe Gibson.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt

Jamison is a $12 mil expiring and there is the $14 mil trade exception, those have the most value

Re: Find the Cavs a wing
None of the wings the Cavs could use (ie: young, cheap players w/ upside) are attainable with the Cavs "assets."
They are better off just waiting until next year. It's a wing-loaded draft and they'll have another high pick (ideallymore than 1).

Ebanks/Caracter + 2012 (or 2013 first) for Gibson.
Ebanks has a bright future as a defensive wing imo.

I'd likely do it for the 2012 1st and Ebanks.Doormatt wrote:Ebanks/Caracter + 2012 (or 2013 first) for Gibson.

Rip Hamilton for Antawn Jamison. Pistons get front-court help, Cavs get a wing.

Is there a team in the league on which at least one of those guys wouldn't have a spot in the 8 or 9 man rotation?
I don't believe the expectation is to add a star on the wing, just someone that can contribute (which won't take much if you look at the 2's and 3's on their roster). Sessions is a good backup PG, if we could deal him for an equally good wing it would be a pretty big deal.

Re: Find the Cavs a wing
As has been stated, none of the proposed players to deal are very valuable.
The best move might be a B. Davis type deal, taking on a big contract with additional incentive.
What about a Bucks trade: 10th pick + Gooden + Salmons OR Maggette for Jamison?

Jamison alone? or Jamison + #4?

I could see this trade going down if Kanter and Williams are not available at #4. Cleveland gets a decent young SF, and hopefully can select Burks at #7.
Davis/Irving/Sessions
Burks/Gibson/Harris
Casspi/Eyenga/Gee
Hickson/Jamison/Samuels
Varejao/Erden/Hollins
Well at least we're not Detroit!

Re: Find the Cavs a wing
I actually like Casspi, but I don't really like moving down in this draft. The Cavs supposedly want either Kanter or Jonas, and both will probably be gone by #7.Evans Is King wrote:Kings trade #7 + Casspi (promising SF who can shoot the 3 and plays D)

As far as the second trade, the Cavs don't need to cut salary at this point. Based on talks at the deadline it appears they would prefer the opposite, actually.
That's too much salary to take on IMO. I could see the Cavs being willing to absorb any one of those players + pick straight up with the TPE but I'm not sure Milwaukee would be interested.Golabki wrote:As has been stated, none of the proposed players to deal are very valuable.

I'm not really sure what Milwaukee wants to do. Cut salary, rebuild, or something else?

If Cavs are targeting Kanter staying at #4 would be their best bet.
