In my 2nd Lineup I meant Hickson at the FOUR and whoever (Eyenga I guess) at the 3:

PG: Irving
SG: Parker
SF: Eyenga
PF: Hickson
C: Kanter

Williams' foot speed won't be able to contain the top small forwards...he's quick for his size, but he's not quick enough to guard small forwards on a daily basis for the whole game. He'd get killed on defense...I agree that he would be able to post up small forwards though. I really think he's a stronger Beasley with a mean streak...

Irving is a very smart player on offense and defense. You don't need to be a freak athlete to be a good point guard. In fact, I'd say he's got nothing in common with Rose. The reason I compare him to Paul is because of his passing ability and the way he sees the court. He makes his team better. Take a look at some of his +/- stats. In every game he played except the one against Arizona where Duke played like sh*t and Williams took a dump on Duke, he had a positive plus minus. http://statsheet.com/mcb/players/player ... plus_minus

4 assists per game in only 27 minutes is pretty impressive...and that is taking into account his games after the injury where he was working his way back (only 6 in 3 games).

He may not end up being the Paul who first came into the league and averaged 18-20, 10, 4, and 2 steals, but I think he is going to average close to that.

Durant played the 4 in college at Texas. He also starts at the 3 and usually finishes games at the 4 in the nba. OKC starts Westbrook, Sefolosha, Durant, Ibaka, Perkins and they usually finish games with Westbrook, Harden, Cook/Sefelosha and they take Ibaka out.

Durant is 6'10 he has never played a minute at the 2 in his life. He is just as quick as Durant and the 3 and he holds his own there.

As for Irving I think he's a good player no doubt. But whats a more moveable piece ove the next 3 years. Hickson or Davis. Hickson can get u good value yet you are stuck with davis awful contract riding pine for multiple years. My other point is I think Walker and Knight are just as talented as Irving and don't see a huge drop of in talent level. but that just my opinion

Right...forgot I saw him guarding Chandler for a few minutes yesterday. He's still a natural 3 though...Williams is not IMO...I honestly see him as a tweener 3/4 who is much better suited to play the 4 for most of the game.

I'm 100% sure Durant played shooting guard quite a lot during his rookie season. He had Wilkins on his team who was starting next to him. I also remember a bunch of people complaining about him playing the 2. I even just checked some of the box scores from his rookie season and it showed the same thing lol.

Your point on who is more tradable is very true...and it could come down to that. As for Knight and Kemba...they are two players that I would love to have, but the same thing would occur if you pick Williams at 1 and either Kemba or Knight at 4 - you would have Davis riding the bench.

If I were Cleveland, I would go Irving 1 and either pick Kanter at 4 (if available) or try to trade down a few slots and get Leonard. Try to trade Sessions (because Davis is pretty much untradeable) and Varejao (if they pick Kanter...if they don't, then obviously keep him). Then have Davis come off the bench. I'm just a HUGE fan of Irving's game...I really see him being a very good point guard in the NBA.

Simply put the Cavs SHOULD draft Derrick Williams.

However the Cavs will draft Kyrie Irving.

Why?

See the top picks of the last few drafts for your answer.

Evans, Wall, and Rose. All First Team Rookies and difference makers for their teams.
Their would be a bigger backlash if the Cavs drafted Derrick Williams and he was a bust than if they drafted Kyrie and he became a bust.

This pick has obvious PR ramifications attached to it so their is NO WAY NONE WHATSOEVER that Kyrie Irving is not the pick.

Next team please!!!

With the Williams should go 1st logic...Beasley should have went first since the Bulls were already set and locked in at point with Kirk Hinrich. Irving is the real deal. He's as close to Chris Paul as it gets. If you watched this kid pre-injury there should be no debating if this kid is worthy and capable.

Kyrie Irving. He is the closest to a sure thing in this draft. It sounds like he is healthy and this is becoming a PG's league and he has drawn comparisons to Cp3. I do understand the logic in taking Williams 1st and then Walker or Knight at 4 so you fill 2 positions but their are still questions with all those guys. I would take irving and then look to deal the number 4 pick to get a proven player or then use the 4 pick on a big man.

The only red flag is how healthy is he and how healthy will he be long term. I heard rumors that there are serious long-term concerns regarding his foot.

They should take Derrick Williams and then get Brandon Knight at 4, but they will take Kyrie Irving.

Williams is a hell of a player, but I don't see him as a full time small forward...and they already have Hickson at PF so they don't really need a combo forward. If they end up trading Hickson THEN I can see them picking Williams.

I pretty much feel this same way.

mpharris36 wrote:Now if you could garuntee me that Kanter falls to 4 I would consider the combo of irving and kanter over willaims and knight/walker. But many mocks do not have kanter dropping to 4 and that would be a huge risk hoping he drops. Picking williams garuntees you a pg at 4. Irving at 1 doesn't garuntee you Kanter at 4...but it might be a risk worth taking...i see your point.

Top 2 is HIGHLY likely to be a combination of Irving/Williams. Done. Its possible Kanter could go second I guess, but then do you really see Utah taking a big man in Williams? Would the talent level be so high that they just take him over taking a potential replacement for D. Williams in Knight or Walker? I think they'd go Knight or Walker and then with their 12th pick try and get a big man to help them out like Tristian Thompson, Biyombo (if he is still there), or Dontaas or even Faried or Markieff Morris.

I guess it all hinges on what Utah will do. I really see them getting a pg, so that leaves either Williams or Kanter dropping to the Cavs at 4. Worse comes to worse they could grab Jonas OR, more far fetch they could pull a Kahn and take Walker. With Walker they would package him and ship him off somewhere else for a peice they want or need. OR they could consider the high octane offense they could run with Walker, and irving playing together. It wouldnt be popular but people would want to see it.

not far you are counting the people voting for irving who said they should pick williams but think the cavs will pick irving....I think that vote should go towards williams....:-)

I feel the same way...chances are they pick irving, but I think they should pick Williams

No question, they're going Irving. The mock should probably start at 3, the top 2 are cement.

Correct, if thats wrong we can change that. I thought we were selecting who we thought the Cavs would pick.

No I think the Cavs will pick Irving and should pick Irving. The best way to rebuild is with the PG.

Even though you have almost 30 million tied up in another PG for the next 2 seasons?
