a few things for you all to consider
1. anybody talking about acquiring mcgrady has either not watches b ball for 5 years or is insane. an aging 2 guard who plays zero defense is the last thing we need on this team.
2. we are not looking for young unproven guys. ie, trading for rubio? are you guys kidding?
3. for all of you who have Pau being potentially traded to teams that are rebuilding or very young, STOP. no tea, that is not in win now mode takes in pau's contract with his age and declining skills. only contenders will take pau. He is not going to a rebuilding wolves team. it ain't happening.
4. we are trying to get younger, quicker and more athletic. think about this when you consider potential trades.
5. Bynum will only be traded for a top 3 pg or dwight howard. not because he is that good, but because he is what makes us potentially 'that good'. there are only two 7 foot beasts, bynum and dwight. we dont have the athletic ability anymore nor the youth anymore, and bynum is what we have that other teams dont. he is our advantage against these teams with these other traits. for these reasons, he will not be traded unless we acquire that same beast (howard) or an all star top pg
all that being said...i think it will be either odom or pau to go. if we can find an older team or a contender, they might consider pau. for example, OKC needed a 4 to throw the ball into, ala a pau gasol...the team, though young, is in win now mode, though theyre still getting better and better. they also have the assets to trade for pau while still keeping a very young core...
so a possible trade here?
lal out: Pau gasol, ebanks, fisher
in: steph curry, nick collison, dorell wright
OKC out: westbrook, collison
Okc in: Gasol, jeremy lin, jeff adrien
GS out: steph curry, dorell wright, lin, adrien
in: westbrook, ebanks, fisher (waived) 2 1st rd picks.
why? lakers get the pg we've all been talking about. great shooter, playmaker, and can be THE GUY once Kobe moves on. we also get a deadly 3 point ace in wright who would probably start, and a great glue guy in collison. essentially, he could start and lamar could still come off the bench. GS does it to get the future of their franchise. pairing westbrook with monta and lee is a nice trio. plus TONS of speed, and a potential great 3 in ebanks. OKC gets the starting 4 they need to finish games. pau has experience 2 titles, which will help young OKC. best yet, they keep the rest of their young core, (durant, harden, ibaka, perkins, maynor)
i would do it. I think bynum should be our 2nd option starting next season, and i think if its not odom, pau needs to go.
