This guys skill set just maybe a fit for use. What do you think it would take? Marvin?

what makes his skillset perfect for the hawks? really, they need a 5 that can defend the paint. i dont see him filling that skillset.

If we can get him for Marvin, sure. But if the Rapters demand more (Which they will) I want no part of it, he can't rebound, he can't defend, and he'll pretty much shoot every time he gets the ball on offense

Maybe I shouldn't of said PERFECT. But he can block so shot, He's long, young, run well and shoot the 3, thus pulling the 5 out to defend opening the lane up for Josh & Al. We still need some tuffness thou

pretty much this. Hawks want defensive players but at the same time feel Al Horford can be a "beast" when defending and going against 4s.
at the same time, that's an upgrade. look at it from this perspective.
Marvin becomes a 7'0 footer. That shifts a Luol Deng or Lebron on to Smith instead of Marvin. (3)
Gibson/Noah has to stick Bargnani and Horford. Bosh/Anthony has to sit on Horford.
Unfortunately, Bosh and Anthony frequently eat Horford's lunch on the boards.
The only game against Miami we won was with Josh at the 3 and Horford twisting his ankle trying to be Dirk off the dribble.
Give me a 7'1 Bargnani any day. He can be hid easier than Horford and can actually create offense and posts up "PFs" better.

Correction: Marvin becomes a pitiful defender who's 7 feet tall. Even more correct is to say that Bargnani is Jamal Crawford with height. Can we use such a player? Absolutely, as much as we used Jamal.
Is he important? Hardly.
We need a true big man. We have limited assets. Let's not lose focus on the one thing we need that'll make the biggest impact. Look at our team if we'd just added Bogut or Bynum -- we'd be playing MIA in the Eastern finals right now. Of course, we can't just add a Center like that, we'd have to pay something. We don't have enough to go chasing rabbits.

If anything I'd rather trade Marvin for Varejao, than Marvin for Bargs. We don't need more shooters, Varejao is a double digit rebounding , lock down defender that'll provide energy. He's a poor man's Joakim Noah, we need those types of players.

we need a poor man's version of a power forward masquerading as a center. we need floppers with no ability to score when a 6'10 power forward switches onto him and is coming off of major injuries.
We need Lebron's left over garbage from Cleveland.
Yeah no thx. We need Bogut and Sanders blue collar guys.
Varejao is a pink collar flopper

Varejao would help us out. I would trade Marvin for Varejao in a heart beat. but cavs wouldn't.

I would rather have Bargs for Marvin than Varejao. we need low post scoring more than rebounding. if we still had Smith and Horford, they would be free to rebound with Bargs pulling the center away from the basket. if we are loosing one of Smith or Horford, then we would need a Bogut or Bynum

Its not that simple. Josh Smith (245) is punching above his ideal weight (230) and is more of a speed player like Shawn Marion.
Earthbound and reliant on his jumper than he ever was. His explosiveness is diminishing each year he bulks up. Even if he moves to the 3 he needs his speed back. Shawn Marion has 23 points as we speek just leaking out and using hookshots.
Horford has been abused by Bargnani, Dirk, and defended by the likes of Bass and Anderson, Taj Gibson.
On the other hand he can tender Bogut and a pick for insurance and it would not be a lateral move because Marvin Williams is gone for a near 6'11 young (22yo) power forward in Larry Sanders.
Reality: Crawford is gone because of $.
Due to Teague outperforming Rondo's PER in 30mpg the playoffs Hinrich is a $8 mil backup guard. We trade him and Marvin for Gooden and Salmons to the bench.
Imagine Rose/Bibby having to defend Joe Johnson or John Salmons.
AL Thornton and Ronnie Price for firepower.
maybe we can package our 2 draft picks. Now or never.
gritt, toughness, length on defense and willingness to defend. Is it in the Hawks DNA?

I agree with you that Bogut and Sanders are valuable. I just cannot believe that MIL would trade both. If they deal Bogut, they're going to want to play Sanders at Center. There's a good bit of talk over on their board about that very thing.
Bogut is worth Josh Smith (and a little bit more).
Bogut is not worth Al Horford.
And, in any deal, MIL's going to want us to take on bad contracts. If I did trade Horford for Bogut, I could not agree to take on more problems. I'd want MIL to agree to do the sacrificing.

Agreed, Bucks fans think too highly of Bogut. Bogut for Horford is just a lateral move, and I'm not about to take on 2 or 3 bad contracts to do a lateral move.

Re: Andrea Bargnani
I think Delambert would be an ideal option for this team. He's a good defender/rebounder who can block shots. He's not going to come cheap, but if we make a S&T for him where we send them Marvin... Smoove moves to the 3, Horford gets his chance at full-time 4, and we become a much better defensive team overall. I like it!

Except there is no incentive for the Kings to trade Dalembert for Marvin.

Re: Andrea Bargnani
I think Andrea Bargnani work best for us for these reasons
1 He's long and would give us the the length we need
2 At center he runs the floor well alowing us to be a more up tempo team
3 He has a 3 ball which will make center step out to defend, opening the paint for Al & Josh postup
4 He can man up block shot, thus requiring less need for help defend in the paint.
I would make that trade even if it was a Kirk for Andrea swap ( Kirk has one year left) and they may like that. We still could move Marvin bench help. carring 3 centers Andrea, Zaza & twin would work for me and if we could get maybe Al thorton and a combo it would be great.
Joe Johnson is the only player we have that can create mismatches look what this guy could do for use. His mis matches would open think up for other players:

Re: Andrea Bargnani
If the Hawks are serious about competing, Bargs is their best option to improve with. I mean the move wouldn't require Josh or Al to be shipped and would turn Marvin into something more beneficial. He would easily increase our scoring output, while remaining a very competent defense..

Yes, I thought we needed a defenive guy or a rebounding guy, I believe Andrea's skill set would allow
Zaza, Josh & Al the freedom to do thing by opening up the paint. And he's also can block shots. Out of all the bigman we should get he the one that could benfit us the most without changing the makup of the team. He would do for us what a great PG would do.
