Your 2011-2012 Utah Jazz

Post#1 » by sendai91 » Fri May 27, 2011 4:57 pm

Assuming that there's a season next year, fill out the roster based on who you think is makes the opening-day roster.

The closest person gets unlimited bragging rights and a hand-signed card from the rest of us declaring them to be the most knowledgeable RealGM poster of all time... :D

My take

PG - Devin Harris, Earl Watson, Jimmer Fredette ( replacing Ronnie Price, who doesn't resign with the Jazz)
SG - Gordon Hayward, CJ Miles, Raja Bell
SF - Derrick Williams, CJ Miles ( AK signs with the Nets)
PF - Paul Millsap, Derrick Favors, Jeremy Evans
C - Al Jefferson, Memo Okur, Fesenko ( one year contract) ( Elson doesn't resign)

I personally think you will see Kanter wearing a Jazz uniform next season...

I agree, Williams will go two, whether the wolves take him, or they trade the pick.

First time poster - long time Jazz fan from Australia.

I see the Jazz taking either Kanter or Knight with the 3rd pick, would love D Will 2.0 but sadly I think Kahn would be run out of town if he didn't take him at 2.

So the lineup will depend largely on who we get at 2, if it is Kanter then there is a serious logjam in the front court and opens up a possibility of a trade. With no possibility of keeping Fes or Elson.

But if its Knight then I think both backup PG's could be gone. But as the draft is considered relatively weak this makes the 12 pick problematic, and any number of players could be taken here - I like Burcs but think he will be long gone. So SF is a need so possibly Jordan Hamilton.

I think I am leaning towards Knight though, so

PG D Harris, B Knight
SG CJ Miles, R Bell
SF G Hayward, J Hamilton
PF D Favors, P Millsap, J Evans
C A Jefferson, M Okur

I accept the challenge.

My wish, Jazz trade down with Wizards, get #6 and 18 for #3. With 6th pick take Biyombo. Gives us a defender and rebounder extraordinaire.

#12 take Jimmer. Gives us a very good outside shooter. At the end of a close game and we have the lead give him the ball so he gets fouled and shoots 90% for us from the line. If we're losing shoot the 3.

#18 take Chris Singleton. Another good defender. Good rebounder and should be a force finishing in the open court. Starts at SF in a year or two. Shooting will come along slowly.

How about the best shot blocker, shooter, and man to man defender in the draft! Biyombo and Singleton plus rebounders also.

Harris deserves a chance to show what he can do. If not the answer we got 2 picks in next year's draft to find a replacement.

Gone from Jazz:
Fesenko and his 39% free throws gone; and don't think about his decent showing against the Lakers. Remember Ostertag did the same and got a fat contract

Price and his 35% field goal percentage; bad assist to turnover ratio; regressed badly last year

CJ Miles and his 40% field goal percentage; When Jazz last made playoffs I thought he did well and would be a big part of the team last season. Another playoff flash that disappointed

Jazz depth chart to start the season.
PG - Harris, Jimmer, Watson
SG - Hayward, Bell (he does have 2 years left on his contract)
SF - Kirilenko, Singleton
C Jefferson, Biyombo, Okur
PF Favors, Millsap

Evans on the inactive list.

This would be a very talented and deep team.
In next year's draft we say good-bye to Bell and Watson and pick a SG and a PG.

C'mon, it's a good deal! It's like trading a twenty dollar bill and getting a five and a ten in return. You end up with TWO solid pieces of currency instead of one.

Tons of scouts say there's no difference between 3 and 10 in this draft and no difference between Knight (Who the Jazz would probably take at 3) and Walker (Who the Jazz would take after a tradedown at 6)

Martell Webster? Averaging maybe 8 PPG at most in Minnesota.

Every player in the draft is a question mark.
Irving can he stay healthy?
Williams PF or SF?
etc.

They can all play some ball though. You want to get the ones who will keep working hard to improve.

Two for one you add depth. Or would you rather be like the Jazz signing guys to 10 day contracts?

I'm really starting to think Biyombo will be the best player in this draft. I have a tendency to believe my eyes and I like Biyombo 'cause I can't remember a guy that big work that hard out of his area. Rodman comes to mind but he is not as big. He couldn't shoot a lick.

Biyombo reminds me of Hakeem the dream. Didn't have much offense when he started in college either. Good on defense though. Biyombo goes after it!

If he's 24 and not 18 I have the right to change my mind!
