Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
What would be the best #9 and #19 combo for us?
Kanter and Hamilton?
Burks and Faried?
Jonas and Brooks?
Twin #1 and Klay?
What are the best #9 and #19 combo's you can come up with that are realistic for us?

I would rank them in preference in the exact order you named them.

How about:
Burks and Twin #2
What if Kanter and Burks are gone at #9 but Vesley, Jonas Kemba and Knight are there?
?

i would be happy with burks and faried. i know it does not address our outside shooting concerns or center concerns, but it definitely gives us some iso scoring and rebounding. two things that always help in close games.

Gooden... what if there will an option to erase one contract per team? Are we ready to let Tyrus go? I don't think so (pick invested etc.) so Gooden could be good caqndidate for that. But we better pull the trigger once we know that choice will be there. Plus I don't want us to be too much better with two healthy centers available (assuming Kwame back), but that's probably a non-issue.

Would not be disappointed with Burks and Faried in the 1st round.

I have a feeling we are going to end up trading the 19th pick for some reason.

I am hopeful it is with #39 and Diaw to move back up into the late Lottery.

I think it will be more likely for cash considerations or two future 2nds or something like that. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd year player who was drafted late in the 1st in their class so is still on their rookie contract for the time being (think a Kosta Koufos or a Donte Greene or a BJ Mullens for example).

I liked Koufos coming out of college. **Wonder if Portland can be talked out of Oden for #19 and Diaw? It would have to be a S&T since he is a RFA. They may want to cut their losses if they are concerned. And I cannot think of anyone we could get at #19 who has any higher potential than Oden. If the kid gets healthy, could be out answer.

You'd be willing to pay Oden $9 million dollars a year????

I must not know the rules well. I did not realize it would have to be $9 mil/yr. Is that what the Qualifying Offer would be and you are taking it that he would have to be signed for only 1 yr at that amount? I thought that was just for a 1 yr deal, but the amount could be signed for less if a multi year deal. With his injury history, I was thinking more in line with 3 yr $15-$18 mil. $9 mil/yr would be too high to make the gamble. **This would all hinge on team doctors reviewing the meds really good and feeling like the knees were OK and not ready to crumble.

Since your trading Diaw and Portland is over the cap, they would have to send out as much salary as they sent in. So in order to make the trade possible, the bobcats would have to receive close to 9 million back, which would mean signing Oden for 9 million.

Thanks Bobcats, I understand now. Was not thinking of that end of things. Yeah, I think $9 mil/yr is too high.
Would you consider signing him to an Offer Sheet for 3 years to see if Portland matches? And if so, how high would you be willing to go?

Most I would be willing to go is probably 3 million and even that, at this stage, might be too much. Maybe a contract in the range of 3 years 10 million. I don't think the Blazers are going to offer him the 1 year deal to make him a restricted free agent though. The qualifying offer is almost 9 million which they would be almost crazy to match. My guess is he will become an unrestricted free agent and will be looking for a 1 year deal so he can try to prove himself again. If he asks for multiple years at a low cost, i would walk away because that probably means he doesn't feel he will ever get back to where he was pre draft.
