Re: Mavs vs Heat NBA Finals Threader
This series is simple and should be like our previous series. If we keep up our level of efficiency in the offensive end, we would be the champion, simple as that.

It's already been made clear.... that's an actual shot from the most criticized foul in Finals history. It was all over ESPN, Yahoo, RealGM, etc. during the debates. It was a clear and obvious foul. The rule book states so. Get over it and give credit where its due. The better team always wins a 7 game series in sports. It's as simple as that.

No that picture doesn't do justice, that's because Harris grabbed Wade AFTER the whistle to prevent the continuation.

To tell you the truth, I'm gonna give to you that Wade got a lot of calls that series. But he was a slasher, faster than anybody, and with Shaq and Haslem setting good picks and with the freaking Dampier and the slower Dirk protecting the rim, it was sure thing that either he would score or go to the line.
But in that particular play, they foul the **** out of him. Dirk bumped him, Harris grabed his arm ,,,,,

Re: Mavs vs Heat NBA Finals Threader
Mavs are strugggling most of the games (34min/game) in PO.
Plus/Minis per 48min in PO
Starting 5 (11min)... -4.0
w/o Dirk (9min) ... [vs POR]-8.6, [vs LAL]-12.6, [vs OKC]-4.5
w/o Kidd (14min)... [vs POR]-4.2, [vs LAL]+25.1, [vs OKC]-9.3
It means Mavs is winning only in another 14min especially for their closing unit(8min).
Mavs is +105 in PO(725min) and Mavs closing unit made +92 only in 123min (+36/48min).
Mavs problem is not on LBJ, Wade or Bosh. On themselves. Poor starting5. And how much Barea doesnt ruin that precious 14min by Dirk, making other players better. Not only himself.

It'll be a difficult series, i am afraid of Terry. If he will struggle with his shot, it's over. Dirk will do his job, i am sure. Mavs have to win game 1 or game 2, both are great away teams, but if we win one game in Miami, we HAVE to close the series in Dallas. No coming back to Miami. Let's go Mavs.

Meanwhile if that was the other way around with Wade grabbing Harris those whistles would have disappeared and nothing would have been called.

This is from a Celtics fan who wants Dallas to best the Heat...... I am posting a thread from our Celtics board:
On May 27, 2011, at 8:01 PM, flceltsfan@aol.com wrote:
David Stern has set up the system so that no one dares question his referees. If they do, they know that they will be fined, or in some way retaliated against. To illustrate his point about the calls that have gone Miami's way with no outcry from the press or anyone else......
***********
There is nothing that Cuban or the coach or players can do without costing them both money and technicals, but the fans could do a lot to see the games are fairly called, at least for the Dallas home games.
How about they leave their seats en-masse for the outer hallways, leaving an empty arena for the network cameras to scan?
I would expect lots of signs and T shirts with logos cursing Stern and his crooked refs.
Perhaps a smart Dallas law firm announces before the series that they will be watching closely and accumulating evidence for a class action suit, like was started in Phoenix a few years ago?
Things could get really interesting if the Dallas fans get creative.

Ok, I've finally sat down to figure out what I had suspected all along - that the Miami Heat enjoy a HUGE FT advantage against their opponents and especially at home. Here are the numbers over their first 15 playoff games:
Total FTs
Miami: 436 (29.1 AVG)
Opponent: 303 (20.2 AVG)
Total FTs in Miami (8 games)
Miami: 266 (33.3 AVG)
Opponent: 155 (19.4 AVG)
Total FTs on Road (7 games)
Miami: 170 (24.3 AVG)
Opponent: 148 (21.1 AVG)
In my opinion, these are some pretty damning statistics for the NBA. I know that superstars get more calls, especially at home, yada yada yada but if you want to use the "Miami is more aggressive and draws more fouls" argument then why is there such a huge disparity in the home/away numbers? The bottom line is that the Heat are a very good team but the ref influence is making them almost impossible to beat.
Some other factoids:
The Heat have outshot their opponent from the FT line in 12 of the 15 games. In the 3 games they were outshot (all on the road), they were outshot by 1, 5, and 2, respectively.
The Heat have had 7 games where they've enjoyed a double-digit FT advantage. 7!
The Heat have shot 30+ FTs in 7 games. Their opponents? 0 times.
In their 3 "closeout" games, the Heat have shot 96 FTs. Their opponents? 58
Anyone who likes money should be putting HARD money on the Heat in the NBA Finals, especially since they have home court advantage. I don't care how good Dallas has looked - they're not going to get the calls they need to win. They just aren't.

Do the Mavs Have a Chance?
We now have our NBA Finals set and it's a rematch of the 2006 NBA Finals. In that infamous series, the Heat were basically given the series on a silver platter by the referees. Dallas was up 2-0 in the series and led Miami in the third quarter of game 3 at which point Miami made a miracle comeback to win the game. Dwayne Wade went to the line 18 times in that comeback.
Miami won game 4 handily to tie the series up at 2-2. In that game, though, Jerry Stackhouse was called for a flagrant foul on Shaquille O'Neal that resulted in a suspension for Game 5. Mavericks officials called the suspension of Stackhouse, who was a key player, unfair. Shaq publicly said that the Stackhouse foul was not flagrant and didn't deserve a suspension, but it was yet another way that David Stern and the officials manipulated this series.
Miami won game 5 in overtime. In this game, Dwyane Wade shot as many free throws as all the Mavericks combined. In fact, Wade set an NBA Finals record for the most free throws made in a finals game as he made 21 of 25 free throws. The game ended with a very controversial play in which Wade committed a backcourt violation that wasn't called and then hit the game-winning free throws with 1.9 seconds left. The Heat shot 49 free throws to just 25 for the Mavericks in this game.
In game 6, Wade once again was given an unusually large number of free throws. Wade shot 21 free throws while the entire Dallas team shot 23. The Heat as a team shot 37 free throws. Several of the Mavs players were in foul trouble throughout the game.
Of course Mark Cuban cried foul about the free throw disparity and the multitude of blown calls in this series. After the end of game 6, Cuban was heard yelling at David Stern, who was sitting courtside:
“[Bleep] you! [Bleep] you! Your league is rigged!”
He was later fined a quarter of a million dollars for this outburst.

Re: Mavs vs Heat NBA Finals Threader
Ok, thats will be my last post here since I already understand that if we win will be because of the reffs, and if we lose , it will be because the Mavs is the best franchise in sports history.
Never mind that in the last game against OKC Chandler foul the **** out of Westbrook in that ofensive rebound that give Dirk the second chance for the 3 . That should be 2 FT for the OKC when they were winning, instead it gave Dallas a huge break.
Never mind that Wade and James dont shoot a lot of 3's , so maybe thats because they live on the FT line.
The Dallas strenght is the 3 ball, with the incredible shooters , and Miami strenght is runing and fast breaking with the 2 best small players in the world, so at the end of the day, if we shoot more FT's, and you guys outscore us from deep, thats natural.
Anyway, good luck , a expect a very good series that probably will go to 6 or 7 games.

Re: Mavs vs Heat NBA Finals Threader
Kidd >> Bibby
DS <<<< Wade
Trix <<< Bron
Dirk > Bosh
Chandler >>> Anthony
Dallas Bench (Hay, Terry, JJB, and Peja) > Miami Bench (lilo' Mikey, Haslem, Chalmers, and Jones)
In each series against Portland, LA, and OKC, rebounding was a big problem for us. Against Miami it won't be. They don't have a center. So that's big.
Its going to be fun to see what the Heat do against Kidd. Bibby is a non-factor, which means Kidd can roam the floor to double Wade whenever he wants.
Its also going to be fun to watch the Heat struggle against Hay and Ty. In the 2006 series, the Mavs centers were non-existent. I get angry even hearing that wusses name. But Ty and Hay can roam the floor on defense and will totally disrupt Lebron and Wade's game.
Dallas in 6.

Raptors fan here. Will be cheering my heart out for you guys. Mavs have been my 2nd favourite team since 2001. Sorry about the win in Dallas in December and for losing to the Heat's scrubs in the last game. Hopefully the HCA doesn't matter. LETS GO MAVS!
