What's Up With Stephen Jackson (ORL Fan)
Magic fan here, been trying to talk the ORL board into considering taking on Captain Jack for some time now (For his leadership/defense/heart) but most of those guys are living in another reality and think they can net a superstar....
With that said, what's the situation with him? I heard you guys tried desperately to ship him out with Crash at the deadline but ther were no takers, is he a guy management just wants to get rid of to rebuild or will they only ship him out if the deal blows you out of the water? What kind of impact do you think he'd have on the Magic? Any trade ideas?

I think we might just end up keeping him until his contract year and trade him then, but for now the guy we will probably most likely trade is Boris Diaw. Unless we got a 1st rd pick we won't trade Stephen Jackson.

I don't think that we *have* to get rid of him right now but the team would probably move him if the offer was right.

Gilly is my dude but no. Just no. I can see Jax/Carroll/Diop for Arenas and some picks but there's no reason to give up the #19th for a crappier version of Diop.
More like:
CHA: Jackson, Diop, Carroll, Najera
ORL: Arenas, Orton, 2011 #53, 2013 unprotected first-round pick, rights to Rakovic (Google him)
There's no easy way to get out of the Lewis/Arenas contract.

I think it was more that the front office decided its time for a change/ to rebuild and shopped their 2 best assets around to do it. I don't believe they were "desperate" because MJ was asking for a fair bit in return, insisting on 2 first round picks for Wallace, thats why Jax wasn't traded in the end.
So Jax would be available but we would need some value in return.

Re: What's Up With Stephen Jackson (ORL Fan)
No to Arenas PERIOD. MJ would never trade for that contract.
For the right deal ie, 1st round draft picks, young talent, expirings, rid of bad contracts or a combination, i can see the FO trading Jack.
In terms of him having an impact on the Magic, i don't think he's the solution as you already have an overpaid, washed up Turkoglu at SF, unless they play Jack at the 2, which he's already pointed out, he doesn't like playing there. Smith has to address the Arenas situation, he can't have him coming off the bench like that. Either pray for a miracle and hope some GM likes him and accepts a trade, or trade Meer and put Gil in the starting lineup....or, start Gil at SG, see what happens. Just can't have him coming off the bench.
Otis fu**ed up trading for Turk and Arenas, i don't see any trade with the Magic where Jack is involved while keeping MJ happy. That's a Fd up situation man for real. I thought we had it bad with Diaw, Carroll and Gana...

Co sign Marvel.
Gil looks like a shell of his former self, that's ORL's mess that they'll have to clean up.

It's as simple as this:
Stephen Jackson, for all his flaws, is better than any player on the current Magic roster outside of Howard.

Ditto to Marvel and Slam. The only situation I see us trading for Agent Z is the one that brings Howard along with him.
We cannot trade Stephen at this point just to dump salary or rebuilding. If we give up his scoring and defense with no replacement we would break the futility record. We will not be chasing Anthony Davis quite that hard.

Re: What's Up With Stephen Jackson (ORL Fan)
Jackson has 1-2 good years left and he won't be making the best use of them in Charlotte. They would trade him, I'm certain but as others mentioned only for the right deal. He's still a #2 option on a contending team. Put him on Chicago and they beat the Heat this year, for example.
Echoing what others have said, we would look for cap flexibility and/or picks in return. Or a younger, up and coming player on a contending team that needs to try and win NOW instead of 2 years from now. Otherwise, we will just wait till he's an expiring deal or just let his contract expire.
People (like ESPN) can say what they want, but the Wallace and Chandler trades triggered a rebuilding effort designed to speed the process up sooner rather than later. We are 1 season away from having one of the largest cap situations of any team. While our pick is owed to Chicago starting next year, the lotto restrictions mean we will probably not have to turn it over until 3 years from now. If we do, it means they found a way to become good within a short period of time.

give this team and jax until the deadline to see what they can do, if we are out of playoffs in feb, then move jax to a playoff team for picks and prospects.

Re: What's Up With Stephen Jackson (ORL Fan)
So are some here actually interested in taking Arenas? I'm not understanding the logic... Are you just looking for an expiring in 3 years or do you guys actually like the guy?
As for Jameer we're thinking he's as good as gone to make playing time for Arenas. I actually spoke to Gil at a local YMCA recently and he said that "determination and patience" is what he's working on and that he's ready to prove many people wrong.

That's why I still believe that Arenas has it. He was starting to come together in Washington before they knocked him down with Wall and Hinrich. In Orlando, he didn't receive heavy minutes and that team never jelled post-trade. Financially, there's also a huge possibility that the new CBA has an clause like the last CBA that allows teams to drop one contract.
I still think that if he's "the man" on a team, he'll be close to his pre-injury levels. I think Otis had a long-term idea for the team when he grabbed him up, and as you said, that involves Nelson going out the door. Personally, I don't think Otis would trade Arenas even if it was a favorable deal.

At# 9 we draft Marcus Morris who we team with Brewer and the Cunningham we got from Portland who was just arrested? We let them fight it out for the 3 position.
At #26 we draft Luca Monguria 7" 225 brazilian Center
At #28 we draft Keith Benson 6'10 245 Indiana Univ Center....We then let Kwamee walk
At #9 of the second round we draft Sheldon Mack and develop him similiar to play with DJ like Raymond did. We develop him into a point and keep Livingston as 3rd point just in case DJ opts out of contract after next season.
DJ. Mack Liv
Hendo, Carroll( Also Mack or Liv can play 2)
MM, Brewer,Cunningham
Diaw, TT, White, Najeria
Benson,Monguria, Diop
Save a Ton of $
Young Teamfor Silas to coach and develop, good bench.. Should win 41 Games?

I really don't see us trading Jax to Orlando But I do see us trading him and our 19th 1st round pick to the Bulls on Draft Day for Brewer and both of Chicago's picks in the late twenties.
