Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
i just think that expecting an 18 year rookie to be a starting center in the NBA is a lot to ask, especially one coming from another country who still has to get used to the shock of living in a new country. it would be a huge mistake to give jonas heavy minutes in his rookie year or put expectations, such as starting. let oakley spend a year getting him tougher and stronger, give him 5-15 minutes a game as a backup center then maybe move him into starting spot in year 2 or 3.
here's the details on his buyout situation

1000000% agree with this. At #39 there is NO risk. He might not be there at #39 and I question even taking him at #19. Maybe we can find a way to move up in the 2nd round. Watch San Antonio take him with their late 1st and he becomes the next Duncan.

I watched about nine minutes of that very unflattering video -- wow, he is the next Shawn Bradley.
If he is supposed to be a top 10 pick, how high is the guy that was working him projected to go?

If watching 9 minutes out of 3 years of international ball is good enough for you to develope such an opinion on a player, then I am thankful you aren't making the decisions for the front office. No telling how bad the team would be then. I guess the fact that almost every credible source that does reporting and mocks on the NBA Draft have him listed Top 5-10 is completely irrelevant to you.

If I were in the front office, we wouldn't be in such a lowly position to where fans would be getting excited over drafting a goofball like that.

I can read A WHOLE LOT about a player in 9 minutes of game film. Heck, the Spurs drafted Tony Parker from watching 10 minutes of highlights on him, even after Parker performed poorly against a nobody in a draft workout.
If you watched a 6 minute clip of Blake Griffin, you'd immediately know how good he's going to be in the NBA.

I don't think he's anything like Gortat. Ilgauskas - on offense maybe.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
He lives jsuat from pick and rolls. That's only thing he does well. (plus he is long enough to poke out the ball resulting in awkarde rebound often). He doesn't do screens so well as Gortat, doesn't have his offensive moves and doesn't elevate as much. But he is still young and raw so I can see him picking up some things. But basically he could (best scenario) model his pick an d roll game after him.
He is very simlar to Ilgauskas offensively, he moves the same way, finishes dunks the same unspectular just effective way. Still missing his arsenal of low post moves. Most importatnly he is not as tall as Big Z, so I am afraid his game may not transfer so well into the NBA. Well maybe he is still growing, that could help him but still.
Resume - I fear he could easily be a bust i.e. very limited player against NBA opposition. He is extraordinary physical specimen in age of 18 but my two cents say that's it and he won't get much better, that he only matured early which makes him so intriguing that he is doing what hei s doing as 18 years old, but that he has not so much room for improvement as some other prospects. Although fundamentals are there i think he is near his peak physically already. Which is ok, he can still have a solid career but I don't expect him to ever make a bigger impact than Goratat or Big Z if he polishes (no pun intended) is game. Low reward, medium risk pick?

I wonder if he is gonna to leave college and go on two years long missiong too (as Bradley did).
Those 3:04 of my life can't be undone that's for sure.
On the other side I really recommend that Broadway musical I linked, even the soundtrack itself is priceless.

I'm not that big a fan of the sorta-big V, and he may very well slide to us at 9, but I bet some other team grabs him before we pick. Still, we shouldn't expect ANY of our picks to be major contributors next season. Build and learn, get back into the lottery next year, then make our move the following season.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

not to troll but it's obvious you've never seen an actual game of him.
the bold part is just ridiculous, he actually grew 3 cm in the past year yet he's reached his peak? at 19?
all i see is a reiteration of what people who haven't viewed his game and are basing their opinions off a few clips, if any. scouts who have are comparing him to noah, which are an obvious rare to find. not gortat or big z, don't know whether you're actually comparing their skin color or aspects of game.
i hope your "analysis" dissuades your organization of picking him because i wouldn't want him to be here either. most scouts/mock drafts are saying he'll be gone by 7 at the most so we both don't have to worry.

if i watched a sculptor sculpt the thinker for 9 minutes, i wouldn't be impressed either.
but after spending 20 years doing it, i'm pretty pleased with its outcome.

Re: Bobcats Picks Discussion (#9, #19, #39)
To be honest the first time I saw Valnciunas play I didn't even noticed him in the game. I had Serbian comentators that didn't mentioned him very much. Only after discovering about him on DX I tried to see another game by Rytas (his team). I still don't see what is so great about him. As someone mentioned here you can see great players by basically watching a highlight film. I remember when Gasol became an NBA prospect. You noticed him on the court right away. Same with other European prospects that made it.
To me Valanciunas is effective in European ball because of 2 things. He is fairly athletic or above average for european standards for Cs. He is long and moves better than most Cs in Europe. Both of those advantages will be gone at the next level. To me he is exectly what DX has him compered to Andris Biendris. Forget about Noah thing, as he lacks the foot speed to be the defender Noah is and like most Europeans lacks the fire Noah has.
He is the last on my international list just behind his countrymen Motiejunas or rich man Brezec. I really hope Valanciunas gets picked in the top 8, because this would mean someone else drops to us.

I don't see where the Noah comparisons come from. Granted I have only seem the limited clips that are on youtube, but I can't remember seeing anything on him that reminded me of Noah's game.
