#6+#18+#34 for #3+Memo?
Wizards fan here. I heard the Jazz have have a lot of interest in Brandon Knight and Kemba Walker. Would you guys consider this trade.
Jazz trade: #3 pick and Mehmet Okur
Jazz receive: #6 pick, #18 pick, and #34 pick
Wizards trade: #6 pick, #18 pick, and #34 pick
Wizards receive: #3 pick and Mehmet Okur
Why for the Jazz?: By the trading for Okur, it gives the Jazz almost $11 Million in cap relief THIS YEAR… Frees up additional minutes for Derrick Favors and with the #6 pick, they should still be able to get their guy in the draft (It’s rumored they like Brandon Knight and/or Kemba Walker), and I think that both of those guys are an upgrade over Harris. And the Jazz receive two more picks to jumpstart the rebuild.
Why for the Wiz?: It is very important that the Wiz get a starting-caliber player with their first pick, and they don't need a PG, so they move up to get Kanter. Personally I don't think Kanter should be picked this high, but he's the better fit for the Wiz than any other team, and there aren't many other players that fit well other than him. And maybe Okur can mentor Kanter since they're both Turkish.
Thoughts?

This is like the exact same type of deal we did for Deron Williams, I feel like this could be bad. If this was offered to Utah, their front office would do this to dump salary more than likely.

I would consider it if KOC considers two players a coin flip at 3 and the other player is available at 6. It would have to be a draft day trade.
Namely, KOC would need to target a Kanter for Knight deal. We need a home run pick, not 2 singles, a strike out and a sacrafice fly.

Re: #6+#18+#34 for #3+Memo?
So we end up with 4 picks on a team that is already insanely young (not mentioning that we likely have two more lotto picks coming in next year), and get out of okurs contract which is likely get covered by insurance anyway, and we lose our first top 3 pick since deron.
All this so we can pick 3 spots lower, and hope to find two guys late in the first/early second (where we have been very poor in our past few drafts) where the percentages of adding contributors is a coin toss at best?
Why?

Like I said, it's only good if the coin flip guy is there at 6. I wouldn't chance it before the draft like Portland did in the DWill/CP3 draft, but if it was to work out that way, why not? Rookie scale is very cap friendly.

That second pick is way too low...... Doesn't really give us anything, we don't need 4 picks in the first round......

I highly doubt there will be any homerun picks in this draft

Second round picks next year may be the way to go.
Better field next year?
The good teams trade away. But pick up second round picks from poor teams. The gems are found top of second round versus bottom of first.
That guaranteed contract versus fighting for your paycheck.
You'll find exceptions, and that's allright.

Well, the reason the top of the 2nd has gems is because sometimes high risk guys work out in the end.

The trade gap is really small,
Wizards add John Wall to Jazz, and make the deal happen!!

Re: #6+#18+#34 for #3+Memo?
The idea is good and if this was for next year's draft I think the odds would be much greater--but I'm not sure teams are looking to stockpile picks for this year's weak draft. The financial pressure on the Jazz is mitigated a bit since AK's deal has expired and I think the financial relief from moving Memo is helpful if they get a veteran in exchange. But adding a mid-late 1st and a 2nd for this draft is unlikely in exchange for Memo and trading down 3 spots. After all we keep hearing there is a big drop off after the top 3-4 picks. Quality over quantity.

At first glance, I thought this was a poor idea. However, it is entirely possible that a player which will be among those in this draft who offer the highest chance of positively impacting a team's competitive prospects will be available at each of those first three picks. Additionally, each player would fill an immediate need for the Jazz, and each has fantastic upside while being a value pick at their respective draft positions.
6. Biyombo
12. Singleton
18. Brooks
The 2nd rounder could be moved for a 2012 2nd rounder, or used in trade to help ensure we get the players we target this year. If it looks like Charles Jenkins will be available at 34, exercise the pick. I would be ecstatic with this group of players, even if they are all rooks. Having so many young guys takes the pressure off of the team and the staff, allowing them to put player development first.
If I were GM and knew Williams wouldn't slip to three and the cost of moving up to two would be unreasonable, and also knew there was an excellent chance Biyombo would be on the board a 6, I would strongly consider this trade or some variation there of.

Biyombo at 6? yuck. I would think we would hope that Knight or Walker are left.
I am not a huge fan of the trade.

The Wiz can't absorb Memo until next season (after July 1), but since there is no CBA in place beyond this year the trade can't hppen. Events may happen in the new CBA preventing the arrangement from occuring and then both teams are stuck with players they don't want.

Yeah, a lot like the draft day deal for DWill. But, this time we're Portland. How did that work for Portland exactly?
It's a HELL NO for me.

Re: #6+#18+#34 for #3+Memo?
im saying why not, it's not like we need badly Kanter, Memo on court presence probably whant be worthed even half of his earning, with that #6 you can still get god prospect like Byiombo. Those concerns about to many youths in team, ok i understand that but this year draft is rich in many great seniors who could participate right away after being pick, so that kind of solve case.
my picks:
#6- Biyombo
#12- Fredette
#18- one of- Brooks; Vucevic; Selby
#34- one of- Smith; Johnson; Butler

Re: #6+#18+#34 for #3+Memo?
Because none of Brooks, Vucevic, Selby, Smith, Johnson, or Butler matter a whit to me. If you like Biyombo as good as Kanter then I guess you might like this deal. I don't. Opinions vary though.
