Colin Campbell resigning as NHL disciplinarian.

Post#1 » by hsb » Wed Jun 1, 2011 4:04 pm

NHL senior vice-president and director of hockey operations Colin Campbell is stepping away from his role as head of NHL discipline.

He had held the discipline role for the league since July of 1998.

Sources tell TSN that Brendan Shanahan will likely take over, but there could be somewhat of an overhaul of how supplemental discipline is handled.

Well Colin's decisions often made no sense and followed no logical precedent, so I can't say I'm not happy with this. I just hope the new person is more consistent. and Shanny handing out discipline would be interesting

Its about freaking time as far as i'm concerned. Not sure how Shanahan's going to do in that role but Campbell didn't set the bar very high.

Good riddance. Can't wait to see PK hit his son into a stanchion and have it be ruled a hockey play.

Not his fault that Habs owners cheaped out on not covering the stanchion's.

But yes he was very inconsistent and after 13 years it was time to go.

You mean every NHL arena? They all use the same ones. And whether they were padded or not, Pacioretty would've had the broken neck regardless. Probably would've saved the concussion, but the speed he hit it with would've broken something from the whiplash no matter what.

I'm not getting into it again, but Chara should've been suspended. The fact that he didn't even get a fine is disgusting.
