didn't Z get a big buyout from Cleveland before he signed for small bucks in Miami?

From memory, he got a buyout from Washington after being traded for Jamison, then signed again with cleveland. Not sure on the length of that deal though.

IDK, but I'm not really thrilled about bringing any of them back. I just associate them with so many years of average ball at best and I think we just need a total change.

sounds right. my point being that his willingness to sign a small deal may have been affected by having already received a big lump sum payment. in fact if they were still paying him, whatever Miami paid him may have simply subtracted from what he was getting from the original team. I wouldn't assume that guys like Z have set the market value of free agent centers who weren't bought out elsewhere.
