Pull for Dallas because it got screwed in the 2006 Finals worse than Bartman.
Can we please break down this analogy?
You see, Bartman was a Chicago Cubs fan. Now during game 6 of the NLCS with Chicago holding a 3-0 lead in the game entering the 8th inning and up 3-2 in the series, Luis Castillo of the Marlins fouled the ball. During the process of catching the ball, Moises Alou was stunned to discover that a fan caught the foul ball from the hem of his glove. At least according to Chicago Cubs fans.
As a result of Bartman catching the ball, he became the scapegoat for the Cubs losing the series. While it's debatable whether that ball was actually catchable and while other fans were going for that ball as well, Bartman should have shown some common sense and let Alou do his thing. Was Bartman the reason the Cubs lost? No, but he certainly was a contributing factor.
So, once again, going back to the analogy here. How exactly did Dallas get screwed in the 2006 finals worse than Bartman? Certainly they suffered an enormous collapse in the finals, but the collapse was of their own making. As was Bartman's.
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this does not make sense. Bartman screwed himself and the Mavs screwed themselves. So why should people pull for a team that lost because of their own damn fault? We shouldn't. And if it doesn't make sense, you must root for the Heat because Rick Reilly is an idiot.
C'mon, look at the silly monkey.
