Charlie Villanueva

Guy, would you trade Marvin Williams for Charlie Villanueva at this point? Marvin is by far a more complete player , but Charlie can score inside/out. I also think Marvin needs a fresh start and he's just not helping us at all

Depends. As we currently stand, no. I wouldn't mind doing it if we got Chris Paul. Give us a real threat off the bench who can play in the low post at an average rate and we can sign Grant Hill or Jemario Moon who can start at SF. Charlie V is a good offense player but his defense is trash and he is lazy as hell. Marvin gives his all, just clumsy. As we currently stand, he wouldn't fit.

We can benefits by having Charlie Villanueva and with him coming off our bench.

3-point shooting this season:
125-323 (38.7%)

I basically want Marvin off the team. Charlie has a similar contract numbers wise, but we know what to expect, and that he won't be a defensive threat. Cleveland supposedly has some interest in Marvin Williams during last years off-season, so we should pursue a trade with them, if they're indeed interested.

Would provide more bench scoring than Marvin and give us some size(Not really useful I dont think).. As pointed out above, he had a 39% 3 point FG%..If the Hawks could get the 08/09 version of CV with the 10/11 3 point shooting %', but without injury problems, then I think he makes strides..

I'm not a CV fan, but he fills a need. It gives us scoring in the frontcourt which is at a premium.

He's big enough to start at the 5 which allows us to move Horford to the 4 and either start Smith at SF, bring him off the bench or trade him altogether.

It's a risk, but with Jamal Crawford leaving it gives another much needed scorer. And if it only costs us Marvin, I say no harm no foul. At worst, he's another warm body to add into the mix at center. He's better than Etan Thomas, more productive than Jason Collins and a better scoring option than Horford and Smith.

But he IS lazy. And immature. And he's never won anything. But as a third/fourth option on a playoff team, it could have the same effect we had on J Crawford when he first got here. A fresh start on a good team usually has a good effect on players like that.

Jamal Crawford isn't leaving. He isn't going to get anything bigger than the MLE from others and we we give him at slightly less than Marvin money with less years. Either way, that has no effect on if this deal happens or not.

Jamal was never lazy. He was a ballhog and a chucker who played no D. Jamal wasn't lazy.
