That's probably true. But I would think a trade would happen before the draft, or as the draft is taking place, lol.

From DraftExpress:
Minnesota trades a first round pick (top-10 protected in 2011, unprotected in 2012) to Los Angeles as part of the Sam Cassell/Marko Jaric trade. Pick could be sent to Boston via Oklahoma City via Los Angeles as part of the Kendrick Perkins/Jeff Green trade via the Eric Bledsoe trade.

Timbervolwes don't have their 2012 1st round pick, but they can trade their #2 this year because they also have #20.

Suns get-
Jonny Flynn
Anthony Tolliver
Andre Miller
No. 2 Pick

Wolves get-
Steve Nash
Robin Lopez
Rudy Fernandez
Nash/Johnson/Beasley/Love/Milicic
Rubio/Fernandez/Webster/Randolph/Lopez
Milicic didn't play too bad last season, he averaged 9, 5, and 2 in only 24 minutes per game. I can only imagine his stats going up when playing next to Nash. They get rid of Pekovic's contract, and have a really deep bench.

Blazers get-
Aaron Brooks
Nikola Pekovic
No. 20
Brooks/Roy/Wallace/Aldridge/Camby
???/Mathews/Batum/???/Oden
The Blazers have two late first and they could try and package them to go higher in the draft or just draft a backup PG and backup PF.

But they surely want to give it up this year, no? Unprotected next year - then agin, is it likely to be better than 2 this year?

Sounds liek they're doing the latter though - no mention of letting the Clips have the 2 this year, which is the actual Minny pick, right? The 20 came in a deal, did it not?

Memphis via Utah - which means the 2 pick is Minny's own, and they're using it this year. So the Clips get an unprotected first from the Wolves next year - which could be scary for the rest of us if they still stink

The only way Minny gives up #2 is for Nash + Gortat

So it would be something like Nash/Gortat for #2/#20/Flynn/Beasley/filler

That would give us 3 first round picks... I would take Kanter, Tyler to build our frontcourt of the future and then #20 on a wing or ssomething.

That's a helluva lot of proven talent to give up for unproven talent. I wouldn't have the stones to make that trade.

Gortat #13 for Flynn, #2, #20

Why make up such huge trades that won't happen anyway. Try to keep it simple.

I don't like Flynn though........

Would rather keep #13 , dont take back Flynn.

Nash, Lopez, Top 8 protected 1st for Love and 20?

Package 20 and 13 to move up to grab Kemba?

Kemba/Dudley/Hill/Love/Gortat

Instantly transform into a young ass team with tons of potential.

Dunno if Minnesota would go for it, but if they're convinced Love won't resign, then they should.

I think the whole point of them trying to get Nash is so they can make the playoffs. Trading away Love for Nash doesn't make sense. With Nash/Love/Gortat they are a playoff team for sure even though they would be risking their entire future if Love ended up leaving (which you're right he probably will). They don't have their pick next year so trying to contending makes sense.

your obviously not familiar with the art of negotiation. Publicly saying that your gonna keep the pick will drive up the offers for the pick. If they find an offer they like, they're gonna take it.

Yes, we are not going to win in a trade with Minn. We arent going to get the second pick, nor are we going to get a rebuilding package worth while. They are talkin about taking Gortat and or Nash, and giving back the likes of Flynn, and or Pekovic, and or Randolph, who hasnt proven a damn thing, and the 20 pick in a weak draft.... NOT WORTH IT FOR US!!! Either find a better offer, or let it ride for the season, let all the money fall off for 2012 and bid for proper free agents.

Depends on what happens with Nash if we don't trade him. Does he sign an extension or possibly retire or go to a better team next year? Right now he's an expiring contract and getting #2 for a 38 year old expiring contract is possibly the greatest trade value we've ever seen. But like KLEON said it aint happening anyway.

Looks like the Twolves are keeping the pick... back to the drawing board.

Now let's see... where were we?

Ah, yes... Iggy and Brand.

The fact that they say they're keeping it, means they're dealing it.

Thank god, someone with a brain. They ARE definitely trading to pick...guaranteed!

Khan wants Nash. Like someone said with Nash and Gortat, they make the playoffs easy. The deal is do we get Randolph or Beasley with the #2 and Flynn. You can look at it as Nash for Beasley or Randolph; they have nothing invested in neither, AND they are jocking Nash to help Rubio, so at the expense of Beas or Randolph means nothing to them. Then Gortat for Flynn and the No.2 is fair as well.

If we trade Nash, having Gortat is meaningless (he is almost 28). We keep our 13th, plus the 2nd, Flynn, and Beas (hopefully), then we roll in rebuilding mode with some young prospects.

Minny

Nash/Rubio
Johnson
Beas
Love
Gortat

is one helluva lineup. Nash and MG would take that over where we are now.

Jimmer/Flynn
Burks or Brooks/Duds
Williams/Duds
Randolph/Lawal
Frye/Lopez

would be a fun team to watch the rebuilding process. Trade won't happen until draft night, so relax fellas with the Minny isn't trading now stuff.

Jimmer, Burks, Williams and even AR all have top flight ability!! Let the best man be the face of the franchise....I am seriously jocking Jimmer. Pick up a C in next years draft and have a lot of cap space

JMac i think we would get #20 as well from them, at least we better...

#2 - DWill
#13 - Jimmer?
#20 - Tyler

Like you said not a bad start- Obviously you take Randolph over Beasley since they like DWill and they're very similar. I think for us to do that we'd have to get rid of Warrick because you'd have Williams, Randolph, Lopez, Frye, probably Peckovic and possibly another big at #13 or #20...

If the Suns trade Nash and Gortat to the Twolves - it better be a helluva lot more the 2nd pick, the 20th pick., Johnny Flynn and Anthony Randolph. Sorry, giving up the two best players in a trade is not the way to make a trade. And usually in a trade, the team that gets the best player wins the trade - especially in the NBA where one player makes all the difference.

If the Suns trade Nash to the Twolves - and include Gortat - it better the 2nd pick, it better be Kevin love, it better be Ridnour and for good measure, the Twolves better take two crappy contracts like Childress and Warrick so the Suns can get under the cap for the summer of 2012.

If the Suns want Flynn, I have no idea what to give them except maybe Josh Childress. Not even Flynn for Lopez is a good deal for the Suns

I have no problem into exploring trades for Nash but the value being received better be a crapload and Anthony Randloph, Johnny Flynn and the 20th pick in the draft that is weak is not a lot.
