TUF 13 Finale thread Sat June 4,2011 on Spike ...

Post#1 » by Nemesis21 » Tue May 31, 2011 5:50 am

Saturday June 4, 2011 9 PM ET

Ramsey Nijem vs Tony Ferguson
Clay Guida vs Anthony Pettis
Kyle Kingsbury vs Fabio Maldonado
Ed Herman vs Tim Credeur
Chuck O'Neil vs Chris Cope

Jeremy Stephens vs Dan Downes
Josh Grispi vs George Roop
Scott Jorgensen vs Ken Stone
Reuben Duran vs Fransico Rivera

Not yet official,
Shamar Bailey vs Ryan McGillivray
Clay Harvison vs Justin Edwards

Can't wait for Guida/Pettis !

IMO Grispi and Stephens fights should be on main card instead of Credeur and Cope fights.

How is Grispi vs. Roop taking a backseat to Herman/Credeur and Stephens/Downes (who?)?

Guida vs. Pettis should be very interesting. I give a lot of credit to Pettis for not trying to sit on the unification fight and instead taking a fight against a tough guy like Guida. Hopefully he wins though. Watching Guida hump his leg for 2 rounds out of 3 and then going on to get a title shot is a scenario I don't want to see.

Lots of WEC!

Downes is exciting, CPT. He's super young (like 20 or so, I believe). He fought Horodecki on short-notice a year ago and really toughed it out.

He's also a Duke Roufus fighter.
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

That I can understand then I guess, because Stephens is usually great to watch too...but Herman/Credeur?

It's not even really about which fight will be exciting. Grispi had a title shot in the bag like 6 months ago, and Roop just lost a title eliminator to Hominick. Yeah, they are coming off losses, but so are Herman/Credeur, and neither of them ever have, nor ever will be, in the title picture.

They've got to get the BWs and FWs out there on main cards to show everybody what they can do.

Downes is the scrappy guy who looks like a 15 year old who was beaten by Horodecki.

He is fun to watch, but on paper it seems like Stephens should school him.

I don't think that is 100% how the lineup will go, was kind of guessing. Will update after tomorrow's TUF episode.

I think there's actually a very real chance that Guida vs. Pettis disappoints. If Guida gets his way, he'll hump the **** out of Pettis' leg en route to a decision. If he doesn't, Pettis will embarrass him on the feet. He's not Diego Sanchez. Maybe their breakneck pace will save it, but unless I'm underestimating Pettis' wrestling or Guida's striking, I think it could be a pretty one sided affair. I'm just not actually sure which side, which makes it interesting to me.

The TUF fights have been made, and if you don't want to read about them, read no further...

***SPOILERS****

For a **** season, Ramsey vs. Tony is a pretty decent final. Almost like a homeless man's version of Guida/Pettis, with an interesting clash of styles, and both guys having some big holes in their games. It might be the hardest finale in recent memory for me to pick a winner in, but I might just not be thinking hard enough.

Chris Cope vs. Chuck O'Neil is barely a Strikeforce Challengers level fight, and should not be on the main broadcast ahead of guys like Grispi, Roop (though to be fair, I wouldn't have bet on him becoming anything coming off of TUF either), Jorgensen, or Stephens. Maybe it will be a good fight, but their ability is just not at the UFC level IMO.

Going into this fight, I'm liking the way Pettis looks physically; strong but lean.

More importantly, I'm liking the way he sounds (which was a concern); confident but focused.

Pettis' best self vs. Guida's best self - Pettis has the advantage by a wide margin. He takes this fight by emphatic finish or comfy decision.

Anyone know the lines for Pettis/Guida? I'm thinking they'll both be like -120 or something. If one of them ends up being a + it might be a good bet.
