Markieff was the one I was high on, because of size, better D and boards, and just more who we need. His brother is more developed offensively and is generally rated going higher by 4-5 spots but all that was before team workouts, and they change a lot of perception

See i always said he would be a bust. Jordan liking him just proves my point. Jordan has the absolute worst track record of selecting young players. Kwamie Brown? Adam Morrison? When Jordan says he likes a player in the draft, that in the NBA is a death sentence.

We say "expected" because the Suns are not announcing their workouts, nor will they open them to the media to interview candidates or hear Suns executives' comments on them. TheHoopsReport.com has shooting guards Klay Thompson of Washington State and Jordan Hamilton of Texas (two potential No. 13 choices) working out for Phoenix on Friday with Seton Hall 25-year-old shooting guard Jeremy Hazell. BYU guard Jimmer Fredette said he will work out for Phoenix soon. The 13th might be a big man workout featuring Texas' Tristan Thompson and Kansas' Markieff Morris.

* It is not stunning that there is Jimmermania in Phoenix. He is a popular player and talented scorer with a large Mormon following. But when a poll went up on our site this week with draft profiles of 15 Suns candidates, the results had Suns fans preferring Fredette by an astounding rate. With more than 3,400 votes cast as of this writing, he had 45 percent of the vote. Only one other player (Bismack Biyombo, a longshot to be available) had accumulated more than seven percent of votes.

For a team that is panned defensively as much as Phoenix, isn't it hard to see the Suns taking a player whose desire and ability to defend are constantly questioned? He would sell jerseys and tickets and score points, no doubt.

As for the defense, Fredette addressed the topic on a conference call this week, saying, "I think everyone has a criticism of someone for something. That is just my criticism I have gotten for my entire life. I'm used to it and I do realize I have to continue to work on defense. I think a lot of people have to work on defense. It's a tough ting, not being able to hand check (in the NBA)."

So would I..

Thompson's potential, at this point at least, far outweighs his ability to contribute in the NBA and any team looking to draft him should be patient. It would be ideal for Thompson to develop alongside of a skilled center and a creative point guard, as his energy and athleticism are by far his most attractive attributes at this stage and he will likely struggle to create or produce on his own much initially. It is far more likely, however, that he will begin his career coming off of the bench and that playing time will depend on his energy level and defensive effectiveness.

how? Robin lopez was mostly a hustle player in college. Tristan blocks, rebounds, and score, I dont get ur comment?

Tristan is mainly a liability on offense. Plays never get run thru him and most his points come from offensive rebounds and hustle plays. I'd take him over Markieff though because he's more athletic. Neither would get PT over Warrick ecspecially with Hakim's ability to finish in the PNF and developing that good jumper.

I rather have Chris Singleton than Tristan Thompson.

Singleton can be a shutdown defender who can finish, very energetic.... might not score 20 points much, but will grab 7-8 rebounds and 2 blocks and a steal... Josh Smith/Marion lite

Tristan Thompson sounds like Daryl Arthur / Hakim Warrick, he needs to put muscle mass and not lose athletism to be effective down low against NBA bodies.

if the Suns big-men remain the same (minus Siler assuming they don't pickup his option), I'd definitely draft Tristan Thompson so he can battle with Hakim in the backup PF slot. Then you'll have Lopez and Lawal battle for that backup center spot.

Tristian Thompson and Klay Thompson don't impress me at all.

Tristian Thompson is basically Kenneth Faried but worse. He is not worth a #13 pick. I would much rather get Marshon Brooks or Jordan Hamilton than him.

lawal proved nothing, realy nothing to me - who tells you that his option will be picked up and what tells you that he stays out of injury - trouble? this team needs an offensive skilled sg, a real pf and some injury luck if we are keeping nash and hill.

Thats why I think we should trade Lopez, #13 ( if necassary our top 10 protected '13 first rd pick also) for Mayo and Arthur from Memphis. We can build around Mayo. He can be the franchise player for us. Arthur also has a lot of potential. I remember there were comparisons to LaMarcus Alridge during draft time.

Then just trade Lawal and a 2nd rd pick for Jason Maxiell, the hustle player you were talking about.

yah, you may be right that lawal is a cheap option which would fir perfectly to our franchise,
i would do that mentioned trade with memphis in a heartbeat - also i think if we could bring in michael redd would be awesome - same with a potential phily trade for iggy..
