LeBron: No One Can Defend Me One-On-One

Post#1 » by TripleC » Sun Jun 5, 2011 1:37 am

After praising how Shawn Marion is playing, LeBron James made one thing clear Saturday when asked how Marion is defending him: “I don’t feel like it’s one guy in this league that can stop me one-on-one. He’s the guy that’s guarding me, but there’s no one-on-one guy that can guard me.”

Not when he's shooting fadeaway 3's late in the shot clock.

If he truly believes that maybe he should attack the basket instead of dribbling around for 23 seconds

On a consistent basis, no. There are some who can slow him down though.

He's right..

The same can be said about most other elite scorers in the NBA.. It's what seperates them from the role players of the league..

He's right, and he needs to show it by not taking a trillion 3's

I'm pretty sure he means one on one, with no help defense coming after he's gone by the first man. But really, a lot of players in the league can't be guarded one on one, by that definition.
For a long time it gave me nightmares, witnessing an injustice like that. It’s a constant reminder of just how unfair this world can be.I can still hear them taunting him, Silly Rabbit tricks are for kids.I mean why couldn’t they just give him some cereal?

i'd agree if he was more skilled 1 on 1. right now its put his head down for a straight line drive or step back jumper.
however, when his jumper is on, he's impossible to stop because he can shoot over anyone from the perimeter.

Well he's correct to a certain extent because lately he's been bailing out the defense by taking long jumpers instead of attacking the rim (perhaps for fear of charging).

He really needs to put his money where his mouth is.

Lebron is ofended that Kobe did not see impressed by his 1 on 1 skills, and complimented his overall play.

He is not great 1 on 1 player. He just holds the ball, drives , passes, or pulls up. He has no moves, and uses no foot work. If he makes the jumper, there is nothing u can do.

It's true, people look for any excuse to hate on LeBron, if M.J. said this kind of thing it would have been attributed to his competitiveness,(not saying LeBron is near M.J's level yet) whereas LeBron gets bashed for being a douche.

+1, he's right,..I see above poster saying he lacks skills as far as footwork etc..Bottomline he cant be stopped. Often times Great players such as LBJ bails out the defense by settling with unecessary shots..Kobe, Wade, LBJ, etc. they all do it...But he's right he cant be stopped and any1 knocking him for saying it is just Lebron Bashing....As far as Pierce being able to stop him, I think its the other way around...I can recall a series last yr. in which LBJ held Pierce to 13ppg on 40% fg. pct. anyhow LBJ is correct.

Okay Lebron, go and dominate a one on one basketball league then.
