Much of this just depends on what you prefer. The good thing is that there are plenty of guys who we would be happy with, if we draft them.

Yes...but he's not the guy you want running a freelance system.
My opinion on his has changed. I watched a few of his games after he came back from suspension, and he was pretty impressive. However, I still don't have him as one of my first choices as he does not fill a need for us.
JW, if you HAD to chose between Jimmer and Selby, who do you chose?
Jimmer without a doubt.
1. BISMACK (PLEASSEEEEE)
2. Tristan
3. Donatas
4. Jimmer
5. Markieff
6. Klay
7. Brooks
8. Selby
9. Reggie
10. Faried
11. Vucevic
12. Lucas
13. Shumpert
14. Jenkins
15. Darius
Thats about where Im at for #17, give or take. Top 5 guys will prob be gone.
BTW How is Jeremy Tyler doing in workouts? I havent heard much. Arent we working him out soon? If he cant crack the 1st round in this draft he must be a bum.

What's up with Iman Shumpert? 6'5" PG/SG, super athlete, 2.7 steals a game, maybe he can be like a Iguodala player? But yeah, I'm into Brooks as well..

I'm starting to want Donatas over ANYONE including Jimmer. Kid is just way too skilled to drop...Right? I mean, a guy with a back to the basket game, that can handle, and hit 3's at 7'0 doesn't slide right?

There were reports saying that he doesn't have the greatest attitude if I remember correctly...like he plays almost as if he is forced to and doesn't look to improve really (or something along those lines...). He also has a slight frame and he is soft...not lacking in skills at all though.

Donatas can't rebound the basketball he has eddy curry rebound inside of him he could have been a top 5 pick if he could rebound the basketball.

With the changing of the guard in the FO and D'antoni under fire, I could see us avoiding Donatas even if he's still on the board. He's such a D'antoni choice that we won't choose him, if that makes sense.

I wouldn't mind a poor man's Pau Gasol with the 17th pick.

Sounds like Dontas has work ethic issues? Still if he is that talented you take him and work on improving his ethics and behavoir. Plus the influence of guys like Amare and Melo you would hope would help him have the right attitude. I'd take a chance on him. We need a center, and there arent that many talented 7 footers just walking around out there.

The same way it would be stupid to Draft a player just because he's "D'Antoni-Material", it would be huge mistake to pass on talent for the very same reason.
Our Depth and Asset-Level is so damn low, that it's got to be BPA at #17 (+ another pick, that is a must too). If Monty falls to us, he will most certainly fit that bill, wether you like his particular skillset or not.

Yeah, those are totally the guys I'd want to teach my prospect defensive intensity... [/greenfckingfont]

Do it again, Jared.

lol point taken. Honestly though i think they'll come out wanting to win next season, the honeymoon is over and watching the guys have so much success in Miami, they'll be motivated. So if Amare and Melo are motivated you better believe they'll get the rest of the team up too. Not to mention if we bring in a defensive minded coach that alone should help us. Melo and Amare have both shown the ability to play good D, they just slack off at times and having a coach that encourages that doesnt help. A change in mindset should make a big difference. If those guys minds are on winning its going to rub off on the whole team, and whoever it doesnt rub off on more than likely wont be playing.

I will take the Gladiator at 17 please.
Hes got his flaws but so will every other player who will be there. If he falls we take him. At the very least hes a great asset for a (CP3) trade. Not sure what role hed have here. 6th man? If he started at center wed be hella soft on D, but sick nasty on O.

LOL Donatas is not Pau Gasol. He's Lampe/Zarko/Korolev.

The knock on Motiejunas is that he has a terrible work ethic and hes unmotivated..
Maybe in the NBA he'll be more motivated considering he'll be surrounded by better players, but still..hes no guarantee, and i think he has bust written all over him..
My [Realistic] Top 5:
Selby
Brooks
KThompson
(very close between the 3 though, VERYY close)
Motijunas
DMorris

Basing my opinion on these two sites, Donatas seems like a pick you make if you have time to groom him and have the right coaching staff for big men. We however have none of the above at the moment.
His biggest issues seems to be post defense and rebounding; correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't that what we need? I like his potential, but i'm not sure he is the right pick for us.

I think Melo can be a pretty good on-the-ball defender. He showed at the end of last year, beginning with the Orlando game that broke the losing streak, that he can be a pretty effective aggressive defender (a good amount of times though he was being overly aggressive and really risked getting in foul trouble) and I think he has the motivation to do it.

Re: 2011 NBA Draft Thread II (New Poll & Mock Draft Results)
I am on record way back wanting Selby....I think the kid has some Rodney Stuckey/D Wade in his game. I actually want 3 guys, in this order, Singleton, Selby, Faried. But I keep hearing this Julyan Stone kid's name. He is a 2nd round pick material for sure, but I keep hearing his name!
This game is now played on the perimeter, we need perimeter defenders. We also need TOUGH MINDED KIDS.....TOUGH! Selby, Singleton, Faried and this Stone kid fit that bill....Stone guards 3 positions, is a true point guard in the sense he thinks pass first.
