Doesn't matter who is the 4 or 5. Neither really have an advantage over opposing 4's because neither of them are good enough at scoring.

How about Marvin Williams for Lopez and Josh Childress?

ATL would be in a bad mental state to make that deal.

Marvin Williams is not very good. I'd rather have Chilly over him, let alone throwing in Lopez.

My question is - why is Magical Marvin getting $7+ mil? Was he extended?

So they screwed up drafting him and then, so as not to admit error, extended him for upwards of $30mil over four years?
Brilliant.

What about for Speights? (It was offered in the T&T section) I think Nash would make Speights a lot better.

Brilliant.

Mike Bibby played 50 games over Jeff Teague. Hinrich was then traded for at the cost of a first rounder and an a 2nd rounder (albeit a gunner he is getting pub so screw it) started over Teague some more.
as not to admit error they will probably start $8million Hinrich and Teague together. Shifting Joe Johnson to the 3 where he has no post up options and Smith has to cover even more defensive mistakes.
:::::::
I think for the first time, I've seen almost the team looks like they're saying, ‘Hey, we want him to lead us,'" George Karl said after his team's Wednesday morning shootaround. "The Portland game, he was the cog that kind of got them over the hump in that game. … [Tuesday] night, he had a solid game. He didn't have a spectacular game, but I think they want to get the game faster, and that's why they're playing him more."

The Hawks kept the same lineup that the team used Tuesday night against Portland -- guards Hinrich and Teague, forwards Joe Johnson and Josh Smith and center Horford. Johnson was asked the last time he played small forward. He replied: "Probably never." :noway:

phxdude wrote:Hello everyone, I'd like to discuss Robin Fropez in this topic, and off we go.. derp.

My idea for a line up.

I feel that Robin Lopez should start next season, with Marcin Gortat playing the power forward position. Gortat is in great shape, he runs the floor like a gazelle and he'd also have an advantage over the smaller power forwards in the NBA. With Lopez clogging the middle, and Gortat getting aggressive in the paint and on his man I'd feel they'd be a defensive pair that would be very hard to stop. I'd also think that this would help somewhat eliminate our size disadvantages that have plagued the franchise for a few years too.

Dear lord no. First off Gortat is not fast enough to guard most PF IMO. Also, when the Suns are offense, they won't respect Lopez. They will put their best big (Center of PF) on Gortat just daring Lopez to do anything. Lopez is a horrible rebounder and at times terrible defender. He won't buy us anything in the starting lineup.

phxdude wrote:Robin gets less touches.

I've pretty much given up on his offensive game, I think he's never going to rack up more then ten points a game at this level. He needs to be able to defend in the low post, while defending on shots when he can. He must have awareness on the court, when he sees that someone is cutting through the middle, stop them at all costs. Let him become a defensive anchor for this ball club. He can't really make a shot, maybe the sporadic close range jumper or the open low post move, but don't force feed him.

He needs to defend in the low post but he doesn't often. He has a good game than sucks for the next 5. He CAN'T be the defensive anchor on this team. He is not good enough. Part of playing defense is the ability to get defensive boards. He is one of the worst in the entire NBA. Even last year when he was healthy he was.

phxdude wrote:[b]Make him your project this off season.

I think that what Robin is lacking is a teacher. A motivator. He had Shaq teach him a few things in his rookie year which somewhat transferred into his first starting year and he was effective. I think he's lacking that mental toughness, Alvin is too soft so we need some type of hard assistant. Someone who'll tell him to man up.

derp.

He will always be a project. He was not a good rebounder in college and having a 7 footer in the NBA who can't rebound as a starter will NEVER be the answer. You can't teach a guy to play above the rim.

Lopez bends down like he's 6 foot 1 when posting up. Why? Also, I noticed way too many fakes. Who does he think he is? Hakeem Olajuwon? Just take it strong and draw the foul.

Maybe its just the injury, or the fact that he can't carry a bigger role on the team. Time will tell.

I suffered a pretty bad knee sprain and was on crutches for a little over a month and I still feel a bit of discomfort in me knee especially if I run a lot.
Not being able to do any running really weakens your leg muscles so I am not surprised Lopez lost 6 inches of his vertical, it also can make you play less aggressively because you don't want to go all out because you're unsure of how much stress your knee can handle.

I think Robin will be able to come back at the same physical level he was before the injury but the real issue is if he will still be the low IQ basketball player he is right now.
