Re: Barnes announces he will return next yr
Would seriously think about switching Barnes-Artest in the starting lineup versus bench. With the same minutes, I think Artest would benefit as he'd still finish games, but he'd also produce more offensively since he'll be in the paint more often, grabbing rebounds, cutting for that mid-range shot and posting up. Jackson considered it mid-year and I think it would make a big difference in the team's offensive production as well as defensive.

I've posted them somewhere else but ever since Trevor, Sasha, and Jordan left, our team's chemistry has been skewed and our bench looks dead. Say what you will about Sasha and Jordan, but their efficiency didn't always translate statistically. No one could ever fault their effort on court, and with our current bench players (save for Odom, although his playoff performance is questionable), look dead when they play.
Barnes, however, provides the energy that our team has lacked. Again, even if he's not statistically helpful, his effort on defense and his hustle goes a long way. You have to love it as a fan, especially on a team that has looked dead the first half of the season and mostly through playoffs.

Re: Barnes announces he will return next yr
I honestly don't think Trevor, Sasha, or Farmar provided us a whole lot on the court. The surely weren't in any way 'difference makers'...
Ariza came up big for a playoff series but was inconsistent at best beyond that.
Farmar was never comfortable with his role on the team and became a distraction when this team was really rolling on the way to a championship.
Sasha... Wow... For every big moment he had... Like hitting those clutch free throws, he had a bonehead moment like he did against Phoenix...
But what I do think this team got from those guys was pretty good game prep in practice... They would go at anyone and were athletic and quick for their positions...
And I agree that this team has looked flat since they all left except Ariza...
But I personally think that has less to do with what little they brought to the court as it does what they provided prior to the games.
We can do better... We must do better than simply getting what those guys brought, back.
But we definitely need, at the absolute very least, some quick athletic bench players that can push the starters in practice throughout the year...

Never have rice at Hanzo's house...

Barnes has regained full range of knee motion
Matt Barnes has regained full range of motion in his right knee that troubled him the last half of the season but will still have a few more weeks of rehabilitation coming.
Barnes had an MRI on the knee Thursday, and the exam showed continued improvement in Barnes’ bone bruise. Barnes tore the lateral meniscus in the knee six months ago, largely derailing his season as a contributor off the Lakers’ bench

Yeah. I thought barnes was key to the early success the lakers were having, but then he got the injury and wasnt the same since. Im glad he's sticking with us and maybe even next year he will be better because the triangle is gone.

I even think he was doing ok in the triangle. His injury thwarted everything else
