What Trade? :-?

All we know is that NY is calling around and seeking to move up (as well as get 2nd Rounders).

We don't even know what NY offered, or what Houston said. See my post above. I doubt anything (if at all) gets done until Draft Night with NY.

I think this is a good draft to trade up in. The cost might not be as high.

Its common sense really. The knick again are scouting guys hard that most likely wont be there. I hope we do move up. And I hope he is good as people think. I just dont like when we scout guys that are a stretch. And make it so public on top of everything. Then what happens is, right around when its our time to pick, the player is on the board, some team will hold us hostage. I just hope we are doing our home work across the board. If this kid fits, then for ONCE go and get him in the draft.

But sooner rather than later when our hopes are up and we can get held at gun point for it.

you're right. either klay or jimmer but if you make a trade you better know you're gonna get him. We need to use our assets wisely.

I would like to have him as well, but I think the team is really looking and focused on guards.

So if the Knicks trade up, I'm thinking Jimmer or bust.

No doubt Jimmer can shoot, but watched an ESPN show on the draft in which they said he is a terrible defender. So wouldn't getting a lesser offensive player who has better defense be a better option?
Maybe a defensive center?
We already have Walker and Williams as "shooters" so I am not sure he fills a need. PLus I am not ready to give up on Fields as a starter, we should see what he does in his sophomore season before drafting another sg...

to be fair, jimmer is a much better shooter than either of those guys.

walker is as streaky as **** stained draws and Williams can only hit a corner three consistently. he's also a free agent i believe.

I really don't like the idea of trading Landry or TD for a slightly higher draft pick, especially given our limited assets. Those two have proven they can be useful in the NBA, it would be horrible if we were to give one of them away for a bust.

That won't happen. For all of Morey's supposed genius, Houston is a lottery team with McHale as a coach. Legend in his own mind.

What about Nikola Vucevic ?

He is a legit 7 foot center , very young. Big body. Has great foot work and his Mid Range Jumpshot is great , he definitely worth a look , alot of mock drafts have him going in the late 20s , any chance we can get a late pick and pick him ?

He can help space the floor for stat and melo , to keep lanes open because of his mid range shot , he is being compared to Okur and we need a big body like him. Rebounds and can hit the mid range shot.

IF we can get

Jimmer , Nikola and Justin Harper , we be in a very good position

i think a lot of you are missing jimmer's true value. he can be our jason terry off the bench. we NEEEEEED a guy to come off the bench and light it up ... badly! bench scoring is a HUGE need for us. none of the other guys we have are capable. i don't think jimmer replaces lansry in the starting lineup either. landry will still get every chance to keep his starting gig.

Probably going to demand Fields and #17. Knicks might counter with Douglas and #17. Either way it better be a home run pick otherwise it would look real real bad.

I think JImmer could be worth moving up for, not really Klay. There is no PG like Jimmer who would be available at 17, but wed have some SGs like Brooks and Selby if Klay wasnt there. While I still have some doubts about Jimmer, I think its worth noting that defense from a point guard is the least important position defensively. Its all about centers and forwards, ie BIGS, who mean the most to a defense. No surprise that our defense has been terrible as long as weve had no center.

http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2011/ ... ck-thereof

Read this article on Jimmer's defense. It pretty much puts on blast the notion that you need great defense from your PG to be good defensively, and that Jimmer should be better than advertised on defense in the pros considering his role. In fact the overwhelming amount of PGs in this league arent great defensively, but can be masked with good defensive big men and coaching. Basically I think Jimmer can be a very good player and could be worth moving up for if thats what we wanna do.

In the NBA JImmer wont have to carry an entire offense, so he should be able to give more effort on D youd think. Im tired of hearing this argument myself, but he tested out at the combine very well, especially moving laterally with one of the best lane agility times. So he has the capabilities to play defense to me it seems.

So the question is... would you give up Douglas or Fields for Jimmer? For me its tough. I hate giving up an asset/rotation player, but we're not talking about irreplaceable guys here. If Jimmer is the real deal wed be foolish not to move up for the guy. On the flipside he could bust and then wed look stupid. Thats the million dollar question.

To me it depends what wed have to give up to move up, but Id think hard about it.

I can't tell if there are TD haters, or if its just b/c he is our only asset besides Fields. Or it could just be that we are anxious for a long term answer at the point after not going that direction in the draft for several years now with some quality points having been recently drafted and consensus is that he is not a starting point.

IMO he is an adequate backup guard, but not a point and if he is at the point needs another facilitator on the court with him. Don't see him running a fluid offense.

I view him as a rare asset we have. As such, he is going to be in most trade options. If we were to go after Jimmer it would clearly be to replace him as an upgrade and perhaps do more. Certainly no need for both.

What I don't know about the FO wanted Jimmer is a) does it mean Mike D is still in the longer term plans; or b) he is a New York (State) guy and it would be a good marketing move; or c) they really think he is just that good?

The other thing that confuses me about how most analysts can't see Jimmer going top 10, but Kemba could be top 5? I know the amazing run the Huskies went on, completely due to the heroics of Kemba, but really? The only current lotto team that I think Kemba makes sense for is SAC b/c they have talent, but need leadership and maturity that Walker has shown. As far as Jimmer, if he isn't top 10, then GST won't take him at 11, UTA depends on what they did with the 3rd pick, PHX I personally don't think they do it, IMO its a bad look to draft him and try to make him Nash 2.0, at 14 HOU has a lot of need so who knows what they'll do, at 15 IDK why some have them taking Jimmer, they have Collison and need a SG with size, and at 16 PHI has a number of scoring PG/small SG. Now teams don't always draft for need or passed on what the current roster is, but the only team Jimmer makes sense for before us is UTA, and only if they don't take Knight 3rd overall.

Based on my last paragraph, we like him enough to use our few assets to move up to GSTs pick to steal him from UTA? Not so sure he will be there with HOU at 14. That said, if we could work out a trade to get the 14 and 23 pick from HOU at the cost the 17 and TD I would be interested.
