Sund and West are discussing Monta Ellis

Post#1 » by td00 » Wed Jun 8, 2011 12:33 pm

What are you giving up to bring this guy in here?

Is Sund saying he has shown Teague enough to warrant moving him since Drew doesn't like the kid?

To get Ellis and that contract, you have to give up salary.

Zaza and Hindrich for Ellis? Is that enough to take on 33M for 3 more years?

I think we will have to give up some talent in return. If they can get Iggy for him, why would they settle for Zaza and Hinrich?

Can't see us trading Smith for Monta Ellis. We'd become waaay too small.
Can't see GS trading Ellis for much less.

GS has to be asking us to be the 3rd team, to take whatever their real trading partner is offering.

I really like Monta Ellis, but dear God I hope we don't trade Smoove for him straight up - we'd be Warriors East.

Im willing to part ways with J Smith with them taking on Marvin Williams and we taking Andris Biedrins+ Monta Ellis or Kirk+ Zaza + future 1st round pick for Monta Ellis.

I totally agree, but you gotta determine what GS needs...they have Curry, Lee and Wright. My thought as to what they would want in return in order:

Joe
Al
Josh

Moving Joe opens up some cash....moving Al is a wash if it is considered an even trade, and Josh does not fill a need for them.
So I don't see a deal unless we move a captain, all-star or not. I totally agree with you.

Should Ellis find his way here, I see him taking Teague's slot immediately. Then do we have a guy who can match up with DRose and Rondo?

If we were to trade Smoove + Marvin for Ellis + Biedrins, I would like to run as our starting up
Teague/Ellis/Johnson/Horford/Biedrins

Is there a source for this rumor though? Everything indicates Monta for Iggy rumors.

Its time to make changes. We cannot be stuck with the same players next year. Monta Ellis would be a perfect fit with Joe Johnson. Joe can move to the SF and Monta can play the SG. Monta will help Joe alot in scoring and drawing double teams.

Ellis fits no better than Jamal. Both need the ball in their hands too much as is.

I cut management a great deal of slack because they have inside knowledge that I'll never have, but if they make us even smaller, they are moronic. And don't talk to me about Biedrins, he's a backup paid like a starter. Smith for Ellis/Biedrins would kill us.

Not to mention benching Teague or playing a 3-guard offense...

I wholeheartedly agree with the statement that we can't be stuck with the same players, even knowing that Jamal probably isn't returning. But if you consider moving Joe, then perhaps Jamal does have a slot to come back. That is far fetched of course.

I want to see anyone but Josh and Teague move, but it looks more like it will be anyone but Joe and Al.

Ellis fits more the Woodson/Drew type point guard than Teague.

Gotta watch out for Jerry West; he knows the league and talk about a big challenge trying to compete with the Lakers.
If you give me Sund or West in a trade, I gotta be worried what Sund ends up with.

Monta Ellis was on my draft board along with Louis Williams as a second round option for us. Since that time nothing has change and I still like him now. I'd love to acquire him depending on what it cost and I support moving almost anyone on the team to make a deal work.

Joe Lacob is the business to not only make money, but to also make the Golden State Warriors successful, so it's not like he's going to move Monte Ellis just to be rid of his contract. Value will need to be added on our end, but I believe an agreement can be reached, and I hope it's not just a rumor.

We're pretty small right now, are you sure you mean "almost anyone" if it includes Smith or Horford?

You'd be happy with Zaza/Horford/Marvelous/Joe/Ellis -- with Teague off the bench?
You'd be happy with Horford/???/Joe/Ellis/Teague?

You'd be happy with Horford or Smith as our ONLY big man?

I still wonder if we're being asked to take what one of the teams doesn't want.

For example, I don't see GS wanting Iguodala. What if GS is trying to get us to take him and send (I have no idea)?

I would be open to moving Josh Smith for Monta Ellis. It just depends on the structure of the trade and who/what are exactly involved.

I support a backcourt that consist of Monta Ellis and Joe Johnson. Joe Johnson won't play the 3 full-time, I can assure you that, and we've been dealing with a small frontcourt for years now. If a trade happens, more changes will be needed, and I expect us to pursue some big men. The problem with big men is that the proven ones are really not available, so grooming one will most likely be our only option, or signing role players to the minimum.

My dream trade would be JJ for Monta/Biedrins.

Really? We're all happy with getting much smaller AND putting a roadblock in front of Teague?

Ellis is THAT good? I guess I missed the part where he lifted GS into the playoffs.
