To bat

I seen this already. And I know that he's gonna give effort at least sometimes, but boozer gives effort on defense too but its soft and bad defense. I see the same with Kanter. I didn't see any shot blocking ability and he was late on a couple of block attempts. A few times just in that little video he got out hustled for rebounds and gave up a second chance point. When he really needed to block out, he didn't and thats when the other team got an extra possession. He actually bumped his opponent a few times on defense which wouldve been a foul in the nba but they let the kids get away with it in this setting. His footwork stinks to me and he isn't agile enough to keep up with a guard like Joakim Noah does. And NBA guard wouldve killed him if he gave them that much space driving to the basket (or would hit a wide open jumper). He either plays too far away from his opponent or plays to close. He's gonna give up a lot of open shots or commit lots of fouls. Thats what I saw in that video. Plus this is still a 5 mins worth of video, he probley had a bunch of other bad plays in the full game.

BTW Okur's defense stinks and I dont want a guy playing defense like him no matter who he's next to. Bulls fans killed me at the beginning of the season when I said Noah and tibbs defensive scheme couldn't cover up Boozers weak defense, and of course what happned? Boozer killed the bulls on defense so much that he was removed late in playoff games. Kanter is gonna stick out like a sore thumb on defense no matter what and wont get in the game enough as a young guy because he kills us on defense and becaus ehe can't shoot over people. You can't cover up bad defense.

starting watching the video and first thing i noticed the stands are half full- if that. There's like 20 people there. How's he going to handle going from that enviroment to the NBA.

Man, that video just killed his stock with me. That competition is like a pick up game, and he was hardly dominant. I really don't like the look of that, though it is 3 years ago, but we have such little to go on with this guy. He is starting to show me red flags.

Ideally an NBA guy would be playing hard nosed defense every play down the court, but in 15 point games, NBA players don't even attempt to play defense every possession. Look at what happened to the Heat in game 2, the were up 15 with 5 minutes to go in the finals and they stopped playing defense. Acting like Kanter's defense can be understood from a 15 point blow out at the high school level is beyond suspect.

hey no wonder we had so many comeback wins in the beginning of the year! we let every team get up by 15 until they quit!

I dont care if they were up by 15 points or not, giving up or taking plays off are not qualities that help your team win no matter what the circumstances might be.

whether he was conserving energy, showing mercy to the other team, or just plain terrible at defense it adds one more big question mark to the type of player he is going to be.

The back lash/over hype that comes from these videos is scary.

Givony puts together a 4 minute video based on two games of his worst defensive effort in a blow out and all of a sudden kanter won't ever, and hasn't ever played defense.

And the positive hype surrounding Kanter before was well-founded?

The score is irrelevant, plus I saw all of this comming by watching that hoop summit video and looking at the box score. He did nothing impressive. And when a guy does nothing but score and rebound, and he was overall the biggest and strongest guy out there. Then a asterick should be put on that game. Plus look how good Kosta look in the under 18 championships. I wish I can find some under 18 videos of darko but I'll show darko beasting in 2005 overseas.

He's been top 10 on most draft boards for a few years because of his on court play in European championships followed up by a dominant hoops summit game, not because of his high school play or highlight tapes.

It was his games like his u18 championship where he put a beat down on valanciuas To the likes of 35/19/5/3 that made people love him, and I assure you those guys are far more intense and competitive than any high school game played in any state in the US.

Check it out yourself. Why doesn't givony post the highlights of that game where kanter destroys valanciunas? Why is it that we see a mid season high school game that doesn't mean jack?

I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, but why do we not have those highlights when Givony has already tweeted about having a high quality copy?

So...because a guy is white and from Europe he is Darko? Or because he is Turkish and dominated the junior tournaments, he is Koufos?

So we should be calling Kyrie Irving the next Jay Williams, because he was a PG from Duke that dominated, and he should be buying some motorcyle insurance? Or we should be calling Derrick Williams the next Marcus Williams because he played a lot on the wing for Arizona and he crashed and burned in the NBA...AND HE HAS THE SAME LAST NAME!!!!!

Your moronic stereotyping and ridiculous fundamental attribution error is getting too much to tolerate. Players can't be evaluated based on their creed, their skin color or their nationality. Kanter should be evaluated on his ability to play basketball. And of all the people in the world who do that for a living, most of them are of the opinion that the kid is going to be really good.

Take Jimmer's junk out of your mouth long enough and you would see that.
