Post#1 » by YogiStewart » Thu Jun 9, 2011 3:15 pm

As per Damien Cox.

Terms weren't announced, but its believed its a $1.8 mil/year deal for 3 years (as per Quick's deal w/the Kings)

Good number - If he plays like he did last year.

Even if he doesn't play like he did last year, it's still a good deal. I'd even be comfortable in around that number for a backup (1.3-1.5 ish).

to be honest, i kind of think Reimer's overrated by Leafs' fans.
Dude has a way to go before I think of him being an above-average goalie. right now, i'd say he's slightly below average.
not bad for a rookie, tho

Gunnarson re-signed as well, 2 years at $1.3M per. Not bad so far.

And obviously I'm hesitant on Reimer as well. Last year we were riding Gustavsson's jock strap after a great run to end the season, desperately need Reimer to be the real deal though.

don't mind the signing in the slightest. could potentially be a basement bargain if he continues his solid play. if not, then at 2mil per, it's hardly handcuffing.

...how is Reimer overrated? Putting up a 20-10-5 record, leading the team into a playoff race, all while playing his rookie season in the toughest market in the league is considered overrated? Sure.

One of the toughest, next to Montreal. ;)

Regardless of how he plays next season, it's a great deal. From what I saw of Reimer though, he reminded me of Halak. Great for a stretch of games, then really bad for a few. He seemed too on/off for me, but he is only a rookie, so you can't really complain.
