Is Ron Rothstein The Real Head Coach?

Post#1 » by bigball123 » Thu Jun 9, 2011 7:59 am

I will keep this brief. After watching nearly every Heat game this season (Knicks fan), it seems like almost every single time that Spo is on cam, he is talking to Ron Rothstein and consulting him on nearly everything. I cannot help but feel that Spo is just Ron's marionette, and acting as the front man of the team, while the real brains is with Ron.

No, he's the consigliere.

Nope, but i believe he plays a big role and so does Pat Riley.

Ron rothstien is, in general, not appreciated on this forum. He is an ex head coach with bags of experience who is there to help a young coach through the rigours of the NBA. Not only that but he doesn't need the glory that others do.

He was there for Pat and he's there for Spo.

The Rothstink haters don't understand basketball.

I really respect that guy. I don't even know how he got on the staff.

He is the one who was on the coaching staff for Chuck Daly's Pistons back in the Bad Boys days. He helped create the Jordan rules, one heck of a coach.

HOWEVER, I think Spo consults him.

But the thing is, too much some consulting on DEFENSE. It's great on all, but the offense needs work more than anything.

Pat Riley is big on creating a culture and legacy for this organization. I would say Riley probably wanted to bring him back into the organization since Ron was the Heat's original head coach. First he made Ron head coach of the Miami Sol. Ron was then added as an assistant coach when SVG was Head Coach. Not sure if this was to fill in the role that SVG had before or if it was as a replacement for someone else leaving.
