Michael Pineda (6-3, 2.33) vs. Max Scherzer (7-2, 4.68)
Felix Hernandez (6-5, 3.29) vs. Rick Porcello (6-3, 3.58)

Disappointing series in Chicago, but at least we didn't get swept. We're 4-2 against Detroit so far this year, with a clean sweep last time we hit the Motor City.

This Series is so huge... just take a Look at the wild Card standings. The Rangers are playing the twins who are Having a terrible season so far. We Need to win.

If we put Wright in in the 8th, and He blows the Lead again, i am going to Be One angry man.

We didn't stand a chance in that game...Verlander was on fire and several of our best LH hitters were on the bench.

Still, I like the match-ups for the next three games. We still have a good shot at taking this series.

Yeah, we got Verlander'd. He was unhittable. Our one run was even a fluke.

Fister was okay, scoreless through 5 but man that kid dodges bullet after bullet. I think he had three leadoff doubles OR triples through 5 which Detroit failed to capitalize on. Then they pounced on him in the 6th.

Here's a surprise: Figgins is leading off today while Ichiro rides the pine. I know Ichiro's struggling, but they're putting Peguero in RF? What is it with the desire to get Peguero in the line-up?

I've actually toyed with this idea myself; while one would think it shouldn't matter, sometimes athletes only perform when comfortable and all his success in Anaheim came as the Angel's table setter. Why not try Figgins at the leadoff spot, and bat Ichiro third? Best case scenario, it lights a fire under Figgins. Worst case scenario, our offense still blows.

The Mariners face a right-handed starter in each of the next six games. Seattle is 25-19 (.568) and has the 2nd best record in the American League and 4th in the Majors in games against right-handed starters.

you know what i really like about this season? I'm checking the standings frequently. I really like this team, but man do we need some reliable offense.

Figgins is terrible, he should be riding the pine.

I'll be damned if you weren't on to something when you said the M's are just waiting for Peguero to earn a demotion. He's at 77 ABs going into today, I wonder if the organization made some sort of internal decision to give him 100, demote, assess, and give him a list of things to work on. Starting him today doesn't make a ton of sense to me otherwise.

Figgins with a double, almost legs out an infield single earlier. He's reborn at the leadoff spot, I knew it!

On a completely unrelated note, does anyone else pronounce his name "Ch-own-ee", even though you know it's pronounced "Shawn"?

That said, pretty much every time I write something critical of him on here, that night he goes on to have a career game. The guy swing at pitches at a rate that only Vlad Guerrero could approve of, but he's so **** strong that when he does make contact he destroys the ball.

Something's got to give with his approach at some point, but when has games where he hits two home runs or hits a triple followed by a game-winning home run, he does make the decision about his future complicated.

With Carlos, while he is feats or famine, he is a desparately needed power bat. He'd be a perfect candidate for a season of .230 50R 20HR 60RBI, which for this team is worth 5th in the order.

Figgins 2 for 4 (not sure how the second hit wasnt an error though). Figgins doing well is nice and all but it just muddles the whole what to do with Dustin Ackley situation. Ackley has struggled the last few games since Carp got called up. It might just be a coincidence but at some point Ackley will make mental notes on how his opportunity is being handled. I personally would probably have Ackley in Seattle as early as monday and might have to so bye to Jack Wilson.

On an unrelated note has anyone noticed how injury free the 2011 Mariner edition has been.

It's the same as it ever was. We had a nice opportunity with two runners on and no outs the last half inning, but then our offense went 1-2-3 quite quickly. Hopefully Pineda can limit the damage and keep us in it.
