Not an offensive title, just an unnecessary thread.

Certainly not as offensive as this...

But anytime you compare the value of people based on their nationality you could really start to offend people.

Wow, this thread devolved into name calling before a single constructive, on-topic reply was posted. Its almost impressive, except for the fact that I feel like one of those idiot drivers who slows down to watch someone getting a speeding ticket.

The thread title is clearly a play on words about currency. Talk about the topic or find another thread to post.

Maybe check my thread called "American's more valuable than Africans." /green

Biyombo is getting paid in Euros. And the American Dollar is worth much more than the Zimbabwe Dollar. But at 12 Biyombo is a huge steal. I think his upside is close to Kanter. He is more limited offensively, but his defensive ceiling is the homerun pick we need.

I thought it was a clever title and not offensive in the least. It's an interesting question I think: do we overvalue these "exotic" foreign players simply because we haven't seen as much of their game? It's an extension of the same principle that led to high-schoolers (before the one and done rule) and freshman getting picked before juniors and seniors: the more you see of the player the smaller his "upside". The fewer games a guy plays in American college basketball the less we know about his weaknesses and limitations.

Are you saying one African at 12 is worth more than an American at 12?

What is more valuable, one of the two American gold coins at 3? Or the Zimbabwe dollar at 12?

Here is how I see how we view players, it has less to do with how much we see of them, and more about what we see from them.

Upside>>>>>Skill.

More Upside>>>More Skill.

High skill=Low upside.

Low skill=High upside.

Low skill>>>>>High skill.

Zimbabwe dollar = Low skill.

Turkish gold = High skill.

Zimbabwe dollar >>>>>>>> Turkish Gold.

Props to Toledo. That was actually a pretty darn clever title. Too bad this thread went south so fast.

I'll be honest, I must be really tired because i got a real kick out of this thread.

On a serious note though, there are a lot more dollars in this draft then euros or zimbabwe dollars. but who knows, with the bad economy the value of the dollar is not as good as it used to be.

Agreed, Toledo came through despite his proven track record, and it was ruined. Cool thread though, very informative and well discussed...
