The "I Still Believe"/Official Rally Thread

Post#1 » by Miamis3rdRing » Fri Jun 10, 2011 6:49 am

Disclaimer: Let's all go easy on the negativity in this thread. I'm sure this will attract hate/laughter if we lose, but it's meant to be all in good fun.

Well, it's come down to this. Do or die. Win or go home.

Our players are NOT going to let the Mavericks hoist the championship trophy in front of our fans, in our house. We're not going to have Terry "running around like a 747" on our court. Dirk is not going to win his first championship at our expense. Mark Cuban will go into depression when this all said and done.

Where there's a Wade, there's a way.

The Larry O'Brien trophy is going to take it's talents to South Beach on June 14th, and it's not going to have "Dallas Mavericks" engraved into it.

Feel free to post why you still believe, good luck charms, quotes, etc. Anything POSITIVE.

Edit:
Some of you may remember during the regular season I would change my sig/avatar every game and put up something of the opposing team. The Heat played very well during that time, so I'm going to roll with this.

HEAT in seven. I don't know how, but it's going to be done. This series is just like the Lakers-Celtics series last year. Look at the way the games themselves went.

Gonna re-post what I said in the other thread.

Who remembers that Celtics season opener where chants of "Overrated!" surrounded the stadium as we lost? Or that Philly game where we won our very 1st game with this unit? How about the home opener against Orlando where we won in convincing fashion? That Nets road game which ended up as our first blow-out win? That heartbreaking loss at N'Awlins? That bounce back highlight filled-win against the Nets? That stunning loss against the Jazz where Milsap went ****? That 2nd loss to the Celtics at home where people started to panic? That blow-out win against the Suns highlighted by Joel's airball dunk? That heartbreaking loss at the buzzer in the hands of Rudy Gay at Memphis? That terrible blow-out loss vs. Indiana at the AAA? The bumpgate at Dallas? The ass whooping King James delivered as he returned to Cleveland? Our first visit at MSG? That spectacular miracle win in Washington?

Who could also forget that Lakers Christmas ass whooping? That Bucks OT win where Chris Douglas-Roberts went nuts? That "F**k you" win at Portland? That Clippers loss which started a 4-game losing streak? That Raptors game where Mike Miller went into god mode? The Thunder game where we saw Eddie House do the big balls dance? LeBron's 50+ point game at Orlando? Our 3rd consecutive loss vs. the Celtics? That Pacers game where Wade and Bron connected on that 92 ft alley-oop? That Bulls game where Wade almost single-handedly won it for us? That Knicks game which was the beginning of doubts on our team? That Orlando choke game? That brutal blow-out loss at San Antonio? Heartbreaking loss at home vs. Chicago? The statement win against the Lakers? That historic Rockets game where the big 3 all had 30-10's? That terrible loss at Cleveland? That Raptors game where Eddie House and Jamaal Magloire secured us homecourt against Dallas right now?

How bout that gritty first round against the Sixers? That clutch-filled Boston series? That spectacular ECF ass whooping showing Chicago who's boss? The collapse against Dallas in Game 2? The LeBron 8 pt game in Game 4? And now this game tonight?

All of those gone and now comes this moment. Is this Miami Heat team truly ready for their biggest challenge amongst all? Can they put together one last run to prove all the haters wrong? Can they win 2 straight pressure packed games to win it all and avoid crumbling against pressure? Can they?!?

I still believe. There's been too many let downs so far but that doesn't stop me from having faith. It ain't over til it's over. Here's hoping we'll still witness a parade down in Biscayne BLVD when it's all said and done. Let's go Heat!

I still believe, only because now that it's an elimination game, I fully expect Spo to run all those devastating plays he's been holding out on us all season! Expect Lebron/Dwyane P&Rs every time down the court.

Seriously though, this series and season feel like they have one more twist, and that would be trolling and disappointing all the haters who are dancing on our graves right now.

I still believe.

Heat is 7.

Lebron with another triple double game 6 and wade 42 points in game 7.

I've been right about this team all year long.

All you have to do is win 2 games on your homefloor. If you cant do that you dont deserve the championship. Its as simple as that. Same as last year

Not a fan but with an injured Wade you guys still went head to head with the Mavs. Even with their hot shooting. I see Miami in 7.

I was negative as hell in the last game thread, I'm ashamed of myself. Looking back objectively, 13/19 from 3? That's ridiculous! They were going to get hot at least 1 game, that was the game, and we STILL had a shot at winning it.

We can do this. And if we do, man do we owe Eddie, Juwan and Jamaal, because homecourt will have been the reason.

I've got faith in Wade, Bosh, AND LeBron. Don't care what anybody says, he's playing smart basketball out there, he looks like the most intelligent player on the court.

Just please, can we get some home cooking? The refereeing has been a travesty and is making it hard to watch. Again we had way more fouls than Dallas.

My thoughts going into this series was that the Heat would win in 7, and that is the only way we will win it at this point. It is going to take some major adjustments defensively though. We cannot continue to defend Dallas the way that we defended Philly, Boston, and Chicago. There is one player on Dallas that looks to penetrate and primarily score off of that penetration, and that is Barea. Yet, we are trapping everything out high, as if Dallas has 5 Derrick Rose's out there. Dallas is exploiting our traps and the fact that we pack the paint off of those traps with great ball movement. The Terry/Chandler PnR has been a huge problem, mainly because of Spoelstra's failure to make adjustments.

Offensively, I think we will have enough to take these 2 home games. You saw how easily we scored at times in the 4th quarter when we had movement and posted up Dwyane and LeBron. It is all going to come down to defense.

I was withholding myself from posting here the whole playoffs to avoid having to get into it with the "negative-jump off a cliff" posters on this board.... but now, I just don't give a F.

Listen real Heat fans, those who lived through the expansion years, the lottery years, the Heat vs Knicks years, the championship year; this is OUR time.

WHITE HOT is going to take over. We have some of the most passionate fans in the country - even though some can be panicky in adversity - and we are going to rock South Florida like nobody has ever seen. Let's do it the Miami way!

Jews, Latinos, whites, blacks, green, purple.... this is the melting pot of the world that will unite in one voice:

"LET'S GO HEAT!"

Very nice post, coolstorybro - this is what makes this fun to read, not the bantering between people & insults, & who's a real fan or not. On a positive note for me - even after yesterday's tough loss - my girl finally came around & watched the whole game with me. Not a sports fan, 3 & 1/2 years, & she would think there's something wrong with me watching games on the comp, or record a game, ignore scores & watch it late after she would go to sleep (league pass). It might sound cheesy, but living in the north east, & being the only Heat fan around, after 15 years I finally may have have someone to cheer with during Heat games. After a good nights rest, I feel positive going towards Sunday, just hope Spo makes the necessary adjustments to counter RC's. Game 6 let's do it! (watching the game with my boys, who are all Knick fans, & they still remember me rubbing 1997 Game 7 Heat/Knicks clincher when Timmy erupted for 37, so they're eager to rub it in my face)

I was positive in the PG thread and I'm positive now. We're still going to win this series. I believed in '06 when we were down and everybody wrote us off and I believe now. I mean now, we're really in a better position than in '06. Back then, and people might forget this, we were on the cusp of going down 0-3! Yes 0-3, a deficit no team has ever overcome! Afterwards, we suffered through an embarassing 0-4 sweep against the Bulls, suffered through a lottery season just to not get the no.1 pick, suffered through two terrible first round exits, just to quit now, down 2-3 in the freaking Finals?!? Show some pride, some enthusiasm and some homerism! I don't give a f*** how many people will laugh at me while I still believe in us winning or how many stats prove how Dallas' chances of winning it all are too high for us to have a chance. I'm not gonna quit on this series until it's actually over and so should you!
