I am now listening to the Black Star album, Mos Def & Talib Kweli are Black Star. I'm angry because I had them tagged as "Blackstar" in my iTunes so now Last.FM thinks i was listening to some **** hardcore band.

Kweli is one of my favorite MC's. I was always lukewarm on Black Star as a group though.

I do. I used to run a top 75,000 site, but then the whole gfx thing took a hit and it fell to around 150k then staff left for college and it fell below 250k and I stopped making money and stopped it.

Yeah why did that happen? I used to be a member on Tech GFX and there were always like 30-50 people to sign in within a 24 hr period, then I stopped making sigs for a while only to return to a shell of a site with only like 2 members and leechers raping the site for resources. And all of them seem to be like that, every single one has either been wiped off the domain or a ghost town. I've only found one decent site, the rest have been duds.

When I joined here in 2004, it let me to a site called RealBallers (an old Media Lounge, then the place for G&D, CEP owned it). The site was cool, had some really innovative designers for the day. Really started the move from brushes to stocks. Then it got really clique-y so I left to the sites PSDCentral (PSDC) and Deadly Fire GFX (Deadly). There was also a decent sized site called Rover that I didn't frequent. PSDC was the first big site to have a cut gallery, it's still up today (under some umbrella company, no one posts there) and I'd say 1/4 of the cuts are mine. I posted a lot and got my first mod spot and then became global mod and shortly and Admin. PSDC and Deadly competed hard for users. Deadly had better designers (probably the best site I remember. Had points system with value and active graphics league), but PSDC more resources and was more friendly. Eventually Deadly's owners freaked on each other and started banning people and **** so that went down the drain. PSDC was sold for a couple grand to the current owners. I started a site with the coder of that one called .o2designz (and a guy from Australia fronted the $ for the start up) just before PSDC was sold and it boomed growing to the size that I mentioned previously. All the good designers from PSDC and Deadly jumped to it and it was the lone site (Rover died for some reason too). Small ones would constantly start up but then mine would over take them. It had a cut gallery larger than PSDCs and was good. Then the really active staff I had moved on (retired) and all the new kids were immature and annoying and bad moderators so members got turned off. Backstagegfx started and spammed the **** out of my site, stole the cut gallery, and all the annoying kids with no lives went there taking away my remaining staff and most active userbase. I turned it into a custom portfolio site then (like dA tried to do, before DeviantArt did it), but it was too late. I started losing $10-15 a month on it and gave up.

BSX is still around and I post there occasionally when I'm really board, but the kids are still annoying and it's a really small group. Never found another site. If you feel like starting one, the summer is the time to do it. You can register free boards at various sites and give it a go.

I had an offer for 1500 on my site once after it started but stood pat thinking I could make it work and at that point we hadn't made back the couple hundred in start up to pay back the Aussie guy. I should have sold it

Oh and it initially started primarily as a front for an actual business. I did design and coding and the Aussie guy did the database work. Made a few hundred one summer off a band website, a few myspaces, a canadian coffee shop and some logos.

Well that sucks good thing you pulled out when you did. It's sad what's happened to the whole GFX scene hopefully it'll pick back up one day.

Join there. Nice forum with artists who know what they're talking about. I joined there about maybe a week ago, posted my work, and received some very healthy feedback about what I need to work on/how much I currently suck :lol:

Official Trades and Transactions Thread was created on March 3rd, 2011. The Community Thread XII was created on May 27th. That's a full month and 24 days distancing the two threads and the Comm. thread is 10 pages up on the Trade thread. Good work spammers.

Grad practices are dumb. There is seriously no point to them. Mines was cool though because my friend brought donuts and we were fat afterwards.
