This news comes from Lisa Dillman's Twitter

I wish former personnel wouldn't have to sue Sterling for their money. Glad that Dunleavy won this one.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

An arbitrator has awarded former Clippers general manager and coach Mike Dunleavy slightly more than $13 million in compensation.

The Clippers had quit paying Dunleavy immediately after firing him last year, on March 8, and he was forced to take the organization to binding arbitration. He had been owed $6.75 million on the contract, $1.35 million for the remainder of the 2009-10 season and $5.4 million for the season just completed.

His case was finally heard almost two months ago before the Arbitration and Mediation Services in Santa Monica. Additional briefs were filed by both sides afterward.

The Clippers and Dunleavy’s legal representatives did not, however, receive the decision until Friday. The award was for everything Dunleavy was owed under his contract, past compensation with interest and future compensation, according to those familiar with the ruling but not authorized to comment.

Lisa Dillman, LA Times

Good for Dun. Sterling should have manned up and paid him from the beginning. We needed a change, but Sterling has got to make good on his responsibilities. He ended up having to pay about double of what Dunleavy was owed. I hope this serves as a lesson for the future when he may have to replace Vinny...

Hopefully, it won't have a negative effect on this team spending to sign/trade players for improvement.

Love it. THey basically doubled the money owed, and made Sterling paid it as punitive damages. Exactly what should have happened. He could have just manned up and honored his contract, instead he gets to kick in another $6.75 million on top of the $6.75 million he originally owed.

Good for him, but honestly...

you guys are stupid if you're jumping with joy about this. It further makes DTS look even more incompetent and cheap, and it potentially gives the TEAM another hurdle financially, when we will be needing to re-sign and extend very valuable and expensive players.

I don't think any Clipper fan is "jumping for joy" about this situation. It was a lost cause when Sterling opted to not pay him last year. He wasn't going to win and shouldn't have won even if he did. We'd rather Sterling do what he is supposed to and for these types of black eyes to be avoided completely.
