IF management decided to trade Juice, that's the deal they have to take. Though Asik being a free agent next season hurts his value to the Grizzlies.

Anywho, was wondering what you thought about the following trade:

OJ Mayo

for

Kyle Korver
Omer Asik
#28 (2011 First Round Pick)

Basically, you'll get a legit backup C.. he's cheap and is improving a lot. Korver could provided scoring off the bench with Mayo gone, and you'd also land an additional first round pick. This could also allow Xavier Henry into the rotation if wanted.

Thoughts?

I think you don't know about Grizzlies roster. Griz has Hadaddi who can be a reasonable back-up Center. Of course Griz FO wants better back-up centers but not the players who are at the level of Asik. I believe he is overtated player because of being in Bulls, the best record team in this season. Hamed is not that bad player as you think. So Asik cannot be attractive reward for OJ Mayo.

FYI, I really don't understand why Bulls fans want to steal away OJ for your ****. Mark this words. Griz fans want to keep OJ as much as you guys want to get. Grizzlies need talented players to "in" the race to the championship. This team is not hopeless any more.

it's a good trade but missing some meat. You give us 2 mediocre role players and a very low draft pick for a star player. I believe you gotta give us Taj Gibson to get OJ

I figured you guys would value Asik more than Taj...since you already have Randolph and Arthur.

What about this trade instead:

OJ Mayo
Arthur

for

Kyle Korver
Taj Gibson
Bobcats Future 1st Round
#28 (2011 First Round Pick)

Arthur and Gibson are a wash. But what is the protection on the Charlotte pick?

Grizz would run with this trade in hand. Why would Chi-town do it? Add more around D Rose if you ask me.

Charlotte Draft Pick received in trade for Tyrus Thomas:

2012 - Top 14 Protected
2013 - Top 12 Protected
2014 - Top 10 Protected
2015 - Top 8 Protected
2016 - Unprotected

I think that could work for me. if a deal were to happen another player I'd like to see come over is CJ Watson...

Asik is VERY good.

Perfect backup center given his defense and rebounding abilities.

If the Grizzlies FO wants to clear salary so they can offer Gasol more money then Gibson, non-guaranteed contracts and our 2012 first rounder for OJ makes the most sense.

But if they are looking for talent in return then it would probably be Gibson/Asik, Korver, 1st rounder for OJ.

Would you guys do Lopez, #13, Brooks (s&t) and Pietrus (replacement for Battier who is a FA) to Memphis for Mayo and Arthur.

I'd think about it because of Lopez and 13, but probably not.

Pietrus would encounter a logjam at the wing with Allen, Gay, Young, and X.Henry returning, and with Vasquez possibly auditioning at 2-guard next season.

We need Mayo's shooting and ability to defend bigger guards more than we need Brooks' penetrating ability.

We need Arthur's 18 footer and his athleticism more than we need Lopez's size and hustle (especially considering some of the really dynamic forwards you have to play against in order to win the West : Durant, Nowitzki, Aldridge, Odom, West/Landry, possibly Blake Griffin). Also, Haddadi always plays good minutes at C so he may be due for more playing time.

The bottom line is this: the Grizzlies don't want to trade quality players for quantity. They are (or should be IMO) looking to package a couple young guys for a more established role player off the bench, either a defensive swingman with range, a skilled (offensively or defensively) swing forward, or a shot-blocking C.

Lopez and Pietrus fit the bill in that sense, but Mayo and Arthur are too valuable to give up for guys like that.
You can borrow ten cents; my two cents is free

Would you do Hadaddi(S&T) and #49 for Steve Nash?

I think Suns will be bottom of the standings next season, and Nash wants championship. He doesn't need to stay there and Griz will help him out.

It's quite plausible for both teams according to your way of thinking.

I'm sure this has been brought up before and I'm missing it, but what do you guys feel about a deal centered around Monta Ellis for Gay? I know people say Mayo and Ellis are similar, but I think Monta paired with Z Bo, Gasol and Conley would put the Griz over the hump. Maybe trade Mayo for a defensive minded SF if you guys can't resign Battier.

The trade idea has been floated for more than a year because there have been legitimate interest during that time. Coupled with the Ellis family ties in the area and his home ownership in Eads, TN.

As for a potential deal I was unable to come up with anything that would make sense from a Grizz perspective.

I was however able to come up with a three way deal involving the Indiana Pacers that might make sense.

Indiana gets OJ Mayo, Mike Conley, and Dorrell Wright from Golden State

Golden State gets Danny Granger and Xavier Henry

Memphis gets Monta Ellis and Darren Collison

This was the best I could come up with and Golden State would probably be the only ones happy with the deal. So it is unlikely a deal gets done between then, especially since Indiana and Golden State could just cut Memphis out all together and make a deal work.

ROFL!

One year of finally winning a playoff series and Memphis fans are all cocky? Wow.

 HeartFoundation tends to overreact (just a hair) to any trades he perceives as unfair.
He should probably take fewer angry pills in the morning.
