Yeah, he's definitely been better than Bosh has ever been during these play-offs, no question. I'm just pointing out that that quote isn't unreasonable at all last year.

And am I wrong? Dirk has a lot of very good teammates. Arguably the deepest team in the league too. You would say he's as good as any of those guys in their prime?

Maybe he has a case with Wade.

It's the bolded part that's questionable.

Bosh from last year on the Mavs last year would have been a very good team. 50+ wins imo.

And how does "questionable" compare to my original comment that A_wildstabatanything called me out on.

Well maybe I should have said "unreasonable". Mavs wouldn't have done just fine.

Well Bosh led the Raptors to the 5th best offence in the league last year, and Dirk isn't exactly a defensive force so I don't see how Bosh wouldn't have had success with that team.

Bosh won 58 games this season with teammates far better than the one Dirk's ever had. I doubt he would have won 55 games in the WC last year with Dirk's supporting cast. Or did Bosh really regress that much as a player this season?

Dirk is an underrated defender and has been for the better part of his career. You don't win 50 games every year for a decade with a star who can't defend.

There is no parallel. They could be twin brothers for all I care and there's still no relation to be made in terms of basketball ability.

No argument there, but I'd stay away from the comparisons. A 5 second google search produced this gem from last season:

Lionel Messi wrote:Bosh a tremendous player and is very close, if not equal, and arguably better than Dirk. Dirk has 10X more talent than Bosh does, of course he's going to win more.

Whats sad about this is that he still believes this! Even though Dirk has lead his teams to the finals two times in the tough Western con, while Bosh lead his teams to two playoff wins in the horrible late 2000s Eastern conference.

To be fair, Messi was far from alone. IIRC Doug Smith had just come out with an article about how Bosh had established himself as the best PF in the NBA in 2010 (based entirely on his 24/11 averages).

Our basketball journalists are the worst in the NBA, so this isn't surprising

No, they're just different circumstances, which is why I compared Bosh from last year to Dirk from last year.
I haven't made any comparisons this year because it's clear that Dirk has been better.

Bosh has also always been more efficient when his usage rate has increased. Plus, as a third option he's relegated to a lot more spot-up shooting than in previous years.

Eta: And I'd say they would have won about 49-52 last season with Bosh.

Not looking forward to seeing Chandler pick up his 4th foul at the beginning of the second half.

Riley said the same thing in 2006, when they went to Dallas for game 6 Riley basically said he only brought the clothes on his back cause he has no intention of going to a game 7
