Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
uh..I repeat...what legacy?
I have never heard of a perennial loser having a legacy. Do the Buffalo Bills have a legacy? They made 4 straight Super Bowls but no they do not. Does Marcel Dionne have a legacy? Nope. Losers don't have legacies. Cripes, even Barry Sanders doesn't have a legacy, great as he was.
A sports legacy is something great transmitted from the past, something that really mattered, that made an indelible mark on the history of a community.
In sports, you create a legacy by winning championships. Period. You leave that history to future fans.
The Celtics legacy includes 11 championships by Bill Russell. That is a legacy. Wilt left a legacy. Magic left a legacy. When Lebron has won one ring then you can START to talk about his legacy.
Now if you asked, how bad did Lebron damage his reputation as a basketball player and as an athlete and as a role model and person, the answer would be very very badly.

It's ok, apparently it doesn't matter what we think of his legacy because his life is so much better than ours. Lebron get's to enjoy his awesome life while all of us haters have to go back to our crappy lives.

After hearing him respond to a reporters question about his critics by basically saying "I don't care what people say because I'm rich and they're not" (in so many words).. the guy has destroyed it. I don't know if it's even possible to be more of a pretentious douchebag.

More like, "I don't care what people have to say because I'm happy with what I've done and they do what they have to do"
See how easy it is to twist one's words?

yes sir, in the presser when asked about the fact that so many people enjoyed seeing him "fail", he responded by saying he didn't care what these people thought because his life was so awesome outside of basketball and all of us had to go back to our crappy lives and deal with our own personal problems.

Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
Lebron's answer in the press conference about how he doesn't care what anyone thinks because he has money and fame, and everyone else will still wake up to their ordinary lives, has to be one of the single dumbest, most out of touch, arrogant things I've ever heard an athlete say.
He's permanently damaged his legacy with those words he just chose to share with the world. What a loser.

It can also be something bad that really mattered.
Take Oscar. Until recently when triple doubles are no longer perceived as overrated and is on closer value to winning a ring he had a bad legacy.
Suddenly because of the modern standards of looking more at stats, then and only then did he had a great legacy.
Lebron will always go down as one of the most controversial villains of basketball history on the court. Far edging out the history behind how Olajuwon was early in his career or how massive the ego of Shaq was even during the time when he wasn't a champion.

No coach. No GM. Probably no star. I swear, in my 23 years of following this team, I can't name a stranger time than this moment to be a supporter of the Magic.

Dude this is REALGM...There is a what is Nenad Kristic's Legacy thread on the GB atm...
I'm pretty sure alot of the posters on REALGM don't know what a legacy is...
But to answer the question...Lebron's Legacy is being overhyped & marketed as the best bball player in the world...even though he's not the best player on his own team & couldn't win the chip with 2 top 5 players & the 3d option being a top 5 PF & also couldn't win a chip being the man even though he claim's to be the 'Chosen One'....& When the going got tough in Cleveland he went ring chasing....
